  • Patent number: 11665453
Abstract: Described is a transformer end-of-life thermal transmitting indicator (thermal transmitting indicator) that is configured and well suited for monitoring the health of a transformer and communicating the health of the transformer to an end user by way of a cellular transceiver. The thermal transmitting indicator can be configured to alert nearby people of an impending transformer explosion if the transformer fails. The thermal transmitting indicator is also arranged to transmit any problems or impending danger from the transformer to the end user who can then respond by preemptively dealing with the failing transformer. The thermal transmitting indicator comprises liquid sensors spaced in its housing to sense if water or high humidity has infiltrated the housing.

  • Patent number: 11333559
Abstract: Described is an electrical grid sensor comprising: a housing having a bottom surface and a top surface and a ring extending from and integrated with the top surface, the ring sized to accommodate a universal hook end of a standard utility hot-stick tool by way of an aperture defined by the ring. The sensor further comprising a temperature sensor inside of the housing and in communication with the bottom surface and adapted to measure a temperature at the bottom surface when energized. A magnetized element at the bottom surface is adapted to magnetically fix the bottom surface to an iron-based transformer housing. The sensor further providing a wireline extending from the temperature sensor, the wireline adapted to connect to a data consumer transmitter. The sensor is configured and arranged to be manipulated and deployed by a hot stick tool when used with a hot stick at a safe distance from high-voltage electrical grid component.

  • Patent number: 5856642
Abstract: The present invention provides a clutch-coupled crossarm mounted switch operator. The switch operator of the invention includes rotational motor means, a non-positive contact or infinite engagement clutch mechanism, and an output coupling. The rotational motor means further includes an input shaft to which the clutch mechanism is coupled. The infinite engagement clutch mechanism does not depend on rotational alignment means for engagement of the clutch. The clutch further includes an output shaft to which the output coupling is coupled. The output coupling is in turn coupled to a gang operated switch element that causes the switch contacts of the gang operated switch to open and close. Use of the clutch coupled switch operator thus effects the opening and closing of the gang operated switch contacts. Further, disengagement of the clutch mechanism allows the user to exercise and test the rotational motor means without displacing the contacts of the gang operated overhead high voltage air switch.
