  • Patent number: 7619517
Abstract: Improved alarm system that is able to distinguish intrusions by persons from intrusions by others, such as nonhuman animals and inanimate objects. Multiple sensors are placed in a vertically aligned array, so that each sensor monitors at a different elevation. As animals and other objects generally have different sizes and shapes than humans, the vertically spaced sensors will detect different intrusion patterns than the intrusion patterns typically generated by a human. By analyzing these different intrusion profiles and only signaling an alarm when a profile resembling an intrusion by a person occurs, a number of false alarms can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 7298254
Abstract: In the present invention an intrusion detection system comprises a detection element configured to detect an intrusion in a location, and to transmit an intrusion signal upon detection of the intrusion. The system further comprises a monitoring device configured to capture images of the location upon the detection of the intrusion, and to transmit image signals representing the captured images. A single transmission line is in electrical communication with the detection element and the monitoring device, wherein the transmission line is configured to carry both the intrusion signals and the image signals.

  • Patent number: 7280017
Abstract: A secure magnetic sensor has a first magnetic switch activatable by a first magnetic field and a second magnetic switch activatable by a second magnetic field which is stronger than the first magnetic field. The first magnetic switch is electrically connected in series to the second magnetic switch. In the default position, the first magnetic switch is in the open position whereas the second magnetic switch is in the closed position. When the secure magnetic sensor is normally activated, the first magnetic switch is activated to close. However, when the secure magnetic sensor is tampered by the addition of a supplemental magnet, this causes the second magnetic switch to be in an open position thereby sounding an alarm.

  • Patent number: 7115871
Abstract: One embodiment of a field coverage configurable passive infrared radiation intrusion detection device comprises a plurality of passive infrared radiation sensors. The device also has an optical element for gathering infrared radiation from different portions of a field and for focusing said infrared radiation onto said plurality of passive infrared radiation sensors. An electrical activation/deactivation circuit receives the output of each passive infrared radiation sensor and selectively activates/deactivates one or more of the plurality of passive infrared radiation sensor outputs thereby configuring the portions of the field covered by the passive infrared intrusion detection device. In another embodiment of a field coverage configurable passive infrared radiation intrusion detection device, the height coverage of the device is adjustable in the field.
