Patent number: 11592284Abstract: A measurement system for frames of heavy duty trucks and trailers does not require a dimensional reference database. A plurality of electronic targets are attached to selected target points on the frame. A position of the laser scanner from the selected target points is determined. Measurement data for additional targets is determined. The frame dimensions are then analyzed for defects that are greater than a pre-set tolerance. Measurements outside of a tolerance range can be flagged with contrasting color. The results of the frame analysis are shown on the user's screen, on the electronic target, and can be printed out or emailed for future inspection. The frame can be repaired while the targets and laser scanner are still deployed so that the measurement system can continue to display the status of the measurement points in real time and the success of the repairs can be confirmed.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2020Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: Infinity Laser Measuring LLCInventor: Hartland William Deering, Jr.

Patent number: 10753733Abstract: A laser measurement system operates to identify locations of points of a vehicle in a three-dimensional space and determine whether the points of the vehicle are properly positioned. The laser measurement system includes a scanner device and a target device. The scanner device operates to generate a laser beam. The target device includes an optical detector configured to detect when the laser beam is directed at the target device and a position of the laser beam relative to the optical detector. The target device further includes a light control device configured to shape the laser beam directed to the optical detector of the target device.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2017Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Infinity Laser Measuring LLCInventors: Hartland W. Patent number: 8997361Abstract: A laser measurement system operates to measure portions of a vehicle, such as a vehicle frame. The measurements are used, for example, to determine if the portions of the vehicle are bent or damaged. The measurement system includes a laser scanner and at least one target assembly that can be connected to a point of the vehicle. The laser scanner emits a laser beam that is detected by the target. Time and laser position information detected by the target are used to determine the location of the target, as well as the location of the point of the vehicle. The location of the point is then compared to an original location of the point to determine if damage has occurred.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Infinity Laser Measuring LLCInventors: Robin L. Knoke, Matt J. Brunk, Mark W. Schulz, Eric J. Krause, Lee G. Macklem, William M. Roth, Daniel Darst
