  • Patent number: 7394475
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method of print registration are provided. The invention includes first and second optical channel modules configured to communicate light from a page to a sensor module. The sensor module sums the light from the first and second optical channel modules and detects one or more light transitions as a first registration mark of a first image of the page moves past the first optical sensor module and as a second registration mark of a second image of the page moves past the second optical channel module. The invention determines that the first image and the second image are registered if the sensor module detects a single light transition as the first registration mark and the second registration mark pass the first and the second optical channel modules.

  • Patent number: 7382473
Abstract: A print instruction program and method for allowing a network terminal device to send print instructions to a PDF direct-printing printer in a communications network in an efficient and advantageous manner. The program and method includes the capability to obtain PDF file name and network address data from the location of a mouse pointer in a web browser screen. The file name and address data can be stored locally on the network terminal device, preferably in a list format. The program and method also provides for the display and operation of a direct print menu in association with a click on a control button of the mouse. The program and method allows the PDF file name and address data to be sent to the network-attached printer, either singly or as part of a list and either as a network address or as an actual file.

  • Patent number: 7369150
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, system and program product for performing multiple-pel print quality enhancement (PQE) using amplitude modulation. A determination is made of an adjusted peak amplitudes value of each pel of an image. At least two adjacent pels are then grouped together and a determination is made of a peak amplitudes value that will serve as a gray amplitude value for each pel in the pel group. Also determined is position information indicating the alignment of the peak amplitudes within the combined area. The combined peak amplitudes and position information is sent as input to an amplitude modulator operating at a speed equal to the video data rate of the printer divided by the number of pels for which the peak amplitudes data is combined.

  • Patent number: 7369065
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for using operation codes to control a decoder to generate data from an input data stream into an output data stream. An encoder generates an input data stream for a decoder comprising at least one operation code and compressed data for an output device. The at least one operation code instructs the decoder on how to process the compressed data. The decoder receives the input data stream and processes the data in the input data stream according to the at least one operation code. The decoder decodes the compressed data into decompressed data to send to an output data stream to the output device.

  • Patent number: 7319841
Abstract: A cleaning station for removing residual toner from a moving toner transfer surface includes a rotating brush and a scraper blade that is held away from the toner transfer surface when toner images are being transferred to recording media, such as sheets of paper. On a periodic basis, when toner images are not being transferred to the recording media, the scraper blade is moved into contact with the toner transfer surface to remove agglomerated toner therefrom, with continued operation of the rotating brush.

  • Patent number: 7312902
Abstract: Systems, methods and program products for recording a document's background data during front-end generation of the document, and inserting a background data identifier on the document. In addition, the invention provides for use of the background data for document processing. For example, the invention provides for removal of the background data from scanner image data of the document to create a foreground image. The foreground image can be used to conduct processing relative to the document such as archiving, fraud detection and other processing. Background data recordation and removal during back-end processing results in improved archive accuracy, lowered storage size requirements, and reduced transmission costs. In addition, background data recordation allows referencing of a single background by a large number of documents.

  • Patent number: 7310168
Abstract: A digital halftoning technique for controlling a spot function is disclosed. A method for generating a spot for use in halftoning according to the present invention includes defining a spot function that combines two functions selected to provide a predetermined spot shape for use in a halftone cell and scaling the spot function using a scaling function that varies according to a value of a first and second spot function ordinate. Asymmetric modulation of spot functions is used to control the touching of adjacent spots, and to change the shape of the spots with the gray region.
