Publication number: 20100017514Abstract: An approach to determine the service demand of various resources of any individual server (present in a cluster of servers), given the overall transaction throughput and utilization values of these resources, in case of a network load balanced scenario is disclosed. The method proposes a quantitative approach to calculate the transaction throughput of each network load balanced server from the overall transaction throughput, obtained from any commercial performance testing tool. The individual transaction throughputs are calculated using monitored values of network related performance counters of each server and the load balancer obtained from performance testing. Service demands of the resource can be computed using the Utilization law of Queuing Theory once the throughput of that server and utilization of that resource is obtained.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2009Publication date: January 21, 2010Applicant: Infosys Technologies LimitedInventors: Sachin Ashok Wagh, Vikas Gupta

Publication number: 20100005472Abstract: Tasks for a business process can be decomposed into subtasks represented by messages. Message processing can be throttled in a heterogeneous environment. For example, message processing at subtask nodes can be individually throttled at the node level by controlling the number of instances of subtask processors for the subtask node. An infrastructure built with framework components can be used for a variety of business process tasks, separating business logic from the framework logic. Thus, intelligent scalability across platform types can be provided for large scale business processes with reduced development time and resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2008Publication date: January 7, 2010Applicant: Infosys Technologies Ltd.Inventors: Sidambara Raja Krishnaraj, Jude Yuvaraj

Publication number: 20090254916Abstract: Computing resources can be assigned to sub-plans within a query plan to effect parallel execution of the query plan. For example, computing resources in a grid can be represented by nodes, and a shortest path technique can be applied to allocate machines to the sub-plans. Computing resources can be provisionally allocated as the query plan is divided into query plan segments containing one or more sub-plans. Based on provisional allocations to the segments, the computing resources can then be allocated to the sub-plans within respective segments. Multiprocessor computing resources can be supported. The techniques can account for data locality. Both pipelined and partitioned parallelism can be addressed. Described techniques can be particularly suited for efficient execution of bushy query plans in a grid environment. Parallel processing will reduce the overall response time of the query.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2008Publication date: October 8, 2009Applicant: Infosys Technologies Ltd.Inventors: Sumit Kumar Bose, Srikumar Krishnamoorthy, Nilesh Dilip Ranade
