  • Patent number: 4536124
Abstract: A revolving-ladle turret having a turret member furnished with a pair of ladle-carrying arms, mounted on a platform which rotates about a vertical axis. The turret member is supported by a pair of articulated linkages similar to parallelograms of the double-handle type. The upper or bridge sides of the parallelograms are horizontal and rigidly supported by the platform and extend parallel to the ladle-carrying arms. These parallelograms have their respective handles shaped at right angles and are linked to the turret member in positions which are symmetrical to it about the axis of rotation of the platform. The articulated parallelograms fundamentally constitute synchronizing devices for the displacements of all of the points of the turret member and of the attached ladle-carrying arms.

  • Patent number: 4506814

The turret member is supported by a pair of articulated linkages similar to parallelograms of the double-handle type. The upper or bridge sides of the parallelograms are horizontal and rigidly supported by the structure carrying the machine. These parallelograms have their respective handles shaped at right angles and are linked to the turret member in positions which are symmetrical to it with respect to the axis of rotation of the platform and which effectively resist the torque which works on the turret due to the constant unevenness of the loads which act on the turret because of variations in the amounts of materials in the ladles.

  • Patent number: 4478065
Abstract: A continuous rolling mill with crossed alternately inclined stands is described in which the working rolls and their roll chocks forming each stand are united to form a unit which can be displaced individually in a direction parallel to the axes of rotation of the said rolls. During changing of the rolls, a thrust member expels the said unit from the stand, in a direction parallel to the axes of rotation of the rolls, onto a load-carrying platform which can be tipped about an axis parallel to the rolling direction to a horizontal position on a carriage which is movable on rails along the sides of the rolling mill.

  • Patent number: 4354404
Abstract: A machine tool is provided with an arrangement for increasing its precision by compensating for deviations in tool positioning caused by factors, such as elastic deformation of the machine structure, which vary in their effect in dependence on the current working state of the machine tool. The arrangement includes a compensator device arranged to physically act upon the machine tool to cancel at least one deviation component, and signal processing means controlling the action of the compensator device in dependence on the current machine working state as sensed by a plurality of transducers. The signal processing means stores data interrelating the machine working state to a corresponding appropriate magnitude of action of the compensator device.

  • Patent number: 4326829
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an overhead travelling crane for lifting and transporting a heavy load over an obstacle including a carriage with front and rear wheels mounted on independent axles for movement along respective rails. The rails engaged by the rear wheels are horizontal while those engaged by the front wheels each have a first section sloping upwardly from a starting point at one side of the obstacle, a central horizontal section extending over the obstacle and a final downwardly-sloping section. In use, a load is engaged with a support member adjacent the front end of the carriage and the carriage is driven along the rails to transport the load, the load being raised as the front wheels climb the first sections of their rails and being lowered as the front wheels descend the final sections.

  • Patent number: 4311032
Abstract: Rolling mills for rolling seamless tubes from axially pierced blanks or billets using a restrained mandrel have suffered from a high dead time in the oprating cycle due to the necessity of returning a mandrel-restraining cross-piece or other member from its final position back to its initial position through the roll stands before beginning the positioning of the next billet to be rolled. This invention overcomes the above-mentioned problem by providing an elongate axially extending recess in the mandre-restraining crosspiece which allows the next billet to be positioned before the end of the preceding rolling operation. The mandrel-restraining crosspiece is ready to be connected up immediately to the next billet when the mandrel-restraining crosspiece has returned to its initial working position, by enabling the crosspiece to pass over the billet which goes through the recess.
