Abstract: A fast modular port switching device is described. The device can be used with an optical microscope to facilitate using multiple devices with the microscope. The port switching is done with a galvanometer for switching very fast. The device is modular so it can be combined with any number of similar devices for building a complex, multi-modal imaging system. Also described is the combination of a port switcher with automated spherical aberration correction. Even further described is a similar device where the outputs are recombined, thus making the device a fast filter switcher.
Abstract: A method of generating a susceptibility map of an object utilizes a regularizing inverse function, oversampling k-space, removing external phase noise and rapid phase change effects, accounting for the known geometry of the object, and using modified SWI phase data to generate reasonable susceptibility maps and digital images therefrom, such as SWI images. The inventors refers to the inventive methods set forth herein as Susceptibility Weighted Imaging and Mapping (SWIM).
Abstract: Management of patient activities for a clinician is provided by a patient activity list the may present the clinician's role relevant activities in conjunction with multidisciplinary activities to be performed for a patient. A timeline view area is presented having role relevant scheduled activities for one or more patients assigned to the clinician. Each role relevant scheduled activity comprises an activity to be performed by the clinician and is presented in the timeline view area based on a scheduled time and in association with a corresponding patient. When a user selection of at least one of the patients is received, one or more multidisciplinary activities for the patient are presented within the timeline view area. The multidisciplinary activities include activities scheduled to be performed by other clinicians, and each multidisciplinary activity is presented in the timeline view area based on a scheduled time.
Abstract: A method of making a rotor yoke includes preparing a cured composite rotor yoke preform on a single-sided curing tool and machining at least one portion of the cured rotor yoke preform to form a rotor yoke. In one embodiment, preparing the cured composite rotor yoke is accomplished by applying successive layers of uncured polymeric composite material to a single-sided tool in a configuration to produce an uncured rotor yoke preform; disposing a semi-rigid caul to an untooled side of the uncured rotor yoke preform; enclosing the uncured rotor yoke preform and the semi-rigid caul by substantially hermetically sealing a vacuum bag to the tool; substantially evacuating a volume defined by the vacuum bag and the tool of air; and heating the uncured rotor yoke preform, sometimes under pressure, to form the cured composite rotor yoke preform.

Abstract: A crash attenuation system for an aircraft, the system having an airbag carried by the aircraft and inflatable generally adjacent an exterior of the aircraft. The airbag has at least one vent for releasing gas from the interior of the airbag. A gas source is in fluid communication with the interior of the airbag for inflating the airbag with gas generated provided by the gas source. A vent valve is provided for controlling a flow of gas through each vent, each vent valve being selectively configurable between an open state, in which gas can pass through the associated vent from the interior of the airbag, and a closed state, in which gas is retained within the interior of the airbag. The gas source is provided for at least partially re-inflating the airbag after venting of gas through the at least one vent.

Abstract: Apparatus for use during open system diving to support underwater human respiration. In accordance with various embodiments, an air supply provides a supply of air along a supply conduit. A regulator is adapted for engagement with a diver's mouth to receive air from the supply during an inhale cycle and to direct a mixture of water and exhaust air away from the diver along an exhaust conduit during an exhale cycle. An air/water separator separates the exhaust air from the water in said mixture and directs the separated exhaust air through an exhaust air port. In some embodiments, a one-way stop valve is provided within the air/water separator to prevent back flow. In further embodiments, a bubble diffuser emits the exhaust air as a fine mist of bubbles into the surrounding water.
Abstract: A method and system for a cutout cover are provided. The cutout cover system includes a hollow head portion including a throat portion including an opening oriented toward a cutout when installed on the cutout and a tab portion extending from the hollow head portion in a first direction, the tab portion including a slit extending through the tab portion to the hollow head portion and dividing the tab portion into two joinable halves. The cutout cover also includes a nose portion extending from the hollow head portion in a second direction, the second direction opposite the first direction, the nose portion including a diverging cross-section along the nose portion from a distal end of the nose portion towards the head portion, the nose portion including a substantially smooth linear surface.

Abstract: Computerized methods in a clinical computing environment for predicting mortality in critically ill patients, that is, patients admitted to Intensive Care Units, are provided. In accordance with embodiments hereof, at least two distinctly different mortality prediction models (e.g., the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHEĀ®) model and the Mortality Probability Model at Admission (MPM0) are utilized in a multi-stage fashion to determine, with better accuracy than may be provided by either mortality prediction model alone, the probability of mortality for critically ill adult patients.
Abstract: Connector assemblies are provided for controlling flow in a fluid line that include an outer shell, an inner housing, and a tubular member. The inner housing is disposed within the outer shell and includes a boss disposed adjacent a first end of the outer shell. The inner housing is movable axially within the outer shell between first and second positions when a device is connected to the first end. The tubular member is carried by the inner housing and includes a fluid passage extending between a second end of the outer shell. The tubular member moves axially as the inner housing moves between the first and second positions, and cam features on the outer shell and the tubular member cause the tubular member to rotate as the inner housing moves between first and second positions, thereby opening a fluid path between the fluid passage and the first end.
Abstract: A window covering louvered blind system for horizontal and vertical orientations has a plurality of structurally sound and aesthetically appealing louvers within the body of the window-covering unit. A primary main body or middle segment of the louver is substantially planar with opposed fins that extend integrally in the same downward direction from the elongated edges of the main body at an obtuse angle. The preferred embodiments have a matching head-rail and bottom rail. Both symmetrical and asymmetrical versions of fins are disclosed. The louvers hereof are shown being used in blinds and shutters.
Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer-storage media for accessing clinical information on a mobile device are provided. A plug-in application receives from a mobile device a set of authorization credentials and a request for clinical information. A set of clinical information is determined based on the set of authorization credentials. The set of clinical information is retrieved from clinical information servers, and the set of clinical information is parsed and populated into a generic hierarchical structure. The populated hierarchical structure is communicated to the mobile device where it is subsequently rendered for display.
Abstract: A blind and blind assembly are provided for reducing or eliminating the flow of air between the blind and an opening at which the blind is installed. A blind is provided for an opening in a structure, the blind comprising a flexible blind sheet portion, at least one slat disposed at the blind sheet portion and extending substantially across the blind sheet portion, the at least one slat contributing to the rigidity of the blind, and at least one sealing portion disposed at at least one part of a periphery of the blind sheet portion for providing a seal between the blind sheet portion and a portion of the structure defining the opening when the blind is mounted in the opening. Also provided is a blind assembly comprising a blind and at least one bracket for for sealingly retaining the edge against a portion of a structure defining an opening.
Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer-storage media for presenting third-party clinical information on a mobile device are provided. A request for clinical information is received from a user of the mobile device. After the user is authenticated, a number of plug-in applications are determined for the user. The request for clinical information is communicated to the plug-in applications. The clinical information is received from the plug-in applications in the form of one or more generic hierarchical structures populated with the clinical information. The populated hierarchical structures are rendered for display on the mobile device.
Abstract: A method for characterizing a three-dimensional spatial distribution of a characteristic of an ultra-hard body includes successively removing portions of the ultra-hard body to successively expose sub-portions, determining a characteristic of each of the exposed sub-portions, and reconstructing a three-dimensional spatial distribution of the characteristic of the ultra-hard body from the determined characteristic of each of the sub-portions.

Abstract: A locking syringe with an integrated bias member, for delivering medical fluids at high pressure, can include a housing, a shaft, a piston, a cap assembly, a bias member, and a locking member. A distal end of the housing can interface with a patient delivery apparatus. A piston can be connected to the distal end of the shaft and can include a peripheral sealing surface that can slidably engage the inside surface of the housing to form a movable seal. The cap assembly at the proximal end of the housing can engage the shaft. A base cap can secure the piston within the housing. The bias member can have a distal end coupled to the piston and a proximal end restrained, such as to help pressurize the internal cavity. The user-actuatable locking member can user-selectively engage and inhibit unwanted movement of the shaft.
Abstract: A medication dispenser provides automation to the steps of locating and acquiring medications or supplies to be administered to a patient. The medication dispenser includes one or more modules housing one or more compartmentalized drawers. Access to each drawer is controlled by a lockable door, and each the drawer may only be slid from the module housing the drawer in response to a signal. A series of lights direct the user to the appropriate drawer and the appropriate compartment of the relevant drawer to remove the appropriate medication or supply.
