Abstract: A method and apparatus of context-based adaptive binary arithmetic encoding/decoding for syntax elements of one or more blocks are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the binarization results of the x and y positions of the last significant coefficient of a transform unit are reordered by collecting the bypass bins together. According to another embodiment of the present invention, binarization results of syntax elements from two or more of four Intra N×N prediction units, including prev_intra_luma_pred_flag, rem_intra_luma_pred_mode, and mpm_idx are reordered by collecting the bypass bins together. In yet another embodiment according to the present invention, the binarization results of other syntax elements are also reordered by collecting bypass bins together. Furthermore, the above reordering of binarization results may be used for binarization results corresponding to a block and its neighboring blocks.
Abstract: A method is presented for forming a Ge containing layer on a Si substrate. The method includes providing a crystalline Si substrate having a surface that has a crystallographic orientation, heating the Si substrate in a vacuum environment, exposing the Si substrate to a surfactant that is suitable for growth of the Ge containing layer on the crystalline Si using surfactant mediation, and thereafter growing the Ge containing layer on the surface of the heated Si substrate using a suitable sputtering technique. The conditions of the growth of the Ge containing layer are selected such that a thin Ge containing layer is formed on the surface of the Si substrate. The thin Ge containing layer has a surface that has crystallographic properties suitable for epitaxial growth of a layer of a further material on the surface of the thin Ge containing layer.

Abstract: A system and method for assessing visual processing of a human subject is provided that allows measurement of vergence facility among other measurements. The system and method present a sequence of questions on a dichoptic display that request the identification of an item with stereo disparity. The questions alternate between the item having crossed stereo disparity and uncrossed stereo disparity in order to stress the vergence facility by forcing the eyes to diverge and converge to identify the item with stereo disparity. The time period for providing a response can be compared to a normative value that is equivalent to approximately 15 vergence cycles per minute to determine an abnormal or normal vergence facility.

Abstract: A method and device in which at least part of a mold is moved periodically relative to the stationary thin-walled plastic profile and the thin-walled plastic profile is held by at least one holding means or gripper, which comprises a core and an outer holding part, whilst the mold is moved along the thin-walled plastic profile, which is stationary relative to said mold. Plastic material objects, in particular plastic profiles, are produced predominantly in a strand, preferably using the pultrusion method. In this case, the plastic profile is pulled through a mold. As a result of the plastic profile being pulled through the mold by a take-off device, it is only possible to form plastic profiles which withstand the force or the pressing pressure of the take-off device. Consequently, only plastic profiles which comprise sufficient wall thicknesses have been producible up to now.

Abstract: Described herein is an apparatus and method for allocating hardware-based processing units for a wave modeling computation. The method generates a computational domain representing a physical region in which wave amplitudes for physical waves are determined. The domain is divided into a plurality of sub-domains, whereafter the method determines which sub-domains of the plurality of sub-domains are active. Further, the method, for each computational step of a plurality of computational steps and in each active sub-domain, executes a first portion of the wave modeling computation corresponding to the active sub-domain by at least one available hardware-based processing unit and determines whether the active sub-domain will remain active in a next computational step of the plurality of computational steps. When the active sub-domain is determined to become inactive in the next computational step, the method allocates the at least one available hardware-based processing unit to other computational tasks.
