Patents Assigned to Innovus Power, Inc.
  • Publication number: 20160065003
Abstract: A power system including a variable speed generator set for supplying power to an electrical power grid is provided. The generator set includes an engine and a generator. A power converter is connected to the generator set and a DC bus. The power converter is configured to convert the electrical power provided by the generator set and supply the converted power to the bus. The system includes an energy storage device and a DC to DC converter connected to the energy storage device and the DC bus. A controller is configured to control the amount of power supplied by the energy storage device to the power grid.

  • Publication number: 20160036450
Abstract: A method of optimizing the dispatch of generators connected to an electrical grid. At least one of the gensets is a variable-speed genset. The optimum dispatch for each load condition is continuously updated by changing the load distribution slightly, testing for performance improvement and updating the distribution set points if improvement is found. Alternatively, the power system may be controlled so that the optimum dispatch for each load condition is determined with the use of an online model that is continuously updated with actual operational data to thereby determine the optimum dispatch.

  • Publication number: 20160036368
Abstract: A method of controlling a pair of inverters connected in parallel and providing power to a motor. The speed of the motor is adjusted by varying the amplitude or frequency of the voltage supplied by each of the inverters to the motor. The method includes providing a system controller for controlling the frequency of the voltage supplied by each of the inverters. The frequency or amplitude setpoint of the voltage provided by each of the inverters is changed by sending a command signal from the system controller to each of the inverters in order to change the speed of the motor. The frequency or amplitude setpoint is controlled by a slew rate limiter.

  • Publication number: 20160036367
Abstract: A system for supplying power to a motor driven pump. The system includes a variable speed electrical generator driven by an engine and a variable frequency drive connected to the output of the generator. The motor is powered by the output of the variable frequency drive. The system also includes a controller for changing the frequency of the output of the variable frequency drive and thereby changing the speed of the motor and the pump.

  • Publication number: 20150357952
Abstract: A generator system including an engine and an electrical generator. An electronic control unit configured to monitor and control the engine and generator is provided. The electronic control unit is configured to monitor the electrical load being supplied by the generator and to determine whether the load has remained within a predetermined range for a predetermined period of time. The electronic control unit is configured to adjust the speed of the engine by a predetermined amount when the load has been determined to have remained within the predetermined range for a predetermined length of time. The electronic control unit is configured to compare the present rate of fuel consumption for the adjusted speed to a stored value for the rate of fuel consumption corresponding to the present electrical load being applied to the generator and subsequently update the stored value for engine speed based on the results of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9048765
Abstract: An electric power generation system including an engine, an electrical generator, and a system controller. The engine is configured to produce mechanical power and includes an engine controller and a turbocharger for raising air pressure to a boost pressure. The turbocharger is controlled by the engine controller during steady state operation of the system. The electrical generator is mechanically connected to the engine and converts mechanical power into electrical power. The system controller is configured to receive a signal indicative of an electrical load on the generator. During a transient condition during which the electrical load increases, the system controller is configured to directly control the turbocharger in order to change the configuration of the turbocharger in order to increase boost pressure.
