Patents Assigned to Insituform International N.V.
  • Patent number: 4836715
Abstract: The tensile strength, and particularly the ability to resist changes in cross-sectional configuration, of a rigidifiable-in-situ passageway lining material comprising a fibrous body with a settable resin forming a part thereof, the fibers in that fibrous body having their lengths generally extending transversely to the plane thereof, is enhanced by incorporating thereinto a reinforcing layer formed of fibers with their lengths generally extending in the plane of the lining, and preferably circumferentially when the lining defines a tube. A pair of such reinforcing layers may be provided, each near a different surface of the lining, thereby to simultaneously protect against buckling and ovality.

  • Patent number: 4701988
Abstract: The invention describes a cutter which is for positioning in an underground pipe which is too small for man entry. The cutter is for cutting holes in previously applied pipe lining which cover lateral connections. The cutting must be controlled from above ground. Flexibility and positionability is achieved by mounting the cutter head at the free end of a boom body, the other end of which is mounted through a universal joint to a mounting so that the boom can swing in any direction. The cutter is controlled in its movement by coupling it to a master unit located and controlled above ground.

  • Patent number: 4581085
Abstract: The invention provides that a tubular lining, suitable comprising an inner felt layer soaked in curable synthetic resin, and an outer impermeable layer, so everted into a pipeline or passageway by means of a gaseous fluid medium which holds the lining against the passageway surface, a pull tape or card which is inside the lining and emerges from the everting face so that tension can be applied thereto, and a lubricating medium inside the everted portion to enable the inwardly travelling uneverted portion to slide over the previously everted portion.

  • Patent number: 4581247
Abstract: The present invention provides that in the lining of a pipeline or passageway using a flexible lining comprising a resin absorbent felt, the felt is impregnated with a light curing resin, and light radiation is used for effecting the resin cure. The resin and felt are selected so as to be of a similar refractive index, and so that the resin and fibres are substantially transparent to the curing light radiation which is used. The lining is pre-impregnated and then contained a bag, envelope or sachet of opaque material to prevent it from curing prematurely.

  • Patent number: 4442891
Abstract: The invention provides a cutter device for use especially in an underground pipeline or passageway such as a sewer which has been lined with a rigid resin lining, the cutter device serving to cut the lining where it covers lateral connections which must be re-opened. The cutter device according to the invention provides a cutter with a cutting bit which can be moved in an orbital fashion to enable the line of action of the cutter bit to maintain its angularity with respect to the angularity with which the lateral meets the main pipeline or passageway. The cutter bit preferably is a rotatable cutter bit, but in the alternative it may be for example a jet of liquid.

  • Patent number: 4439469
Abstract: A method of forming a lining in a pipeline comprising forming on the inner surface of the pipeline a film of initiator and following the formation of this film of initiator, a layer of resin is formed on the film of the initiator for effecting accelerated cure of the resin thereby to form a cured lining in the pipeline inner surface.
