Patent number: 6013691Abstract: The present invention discloses a foam frothing alternative for blowing or frothing single component foams using gases which are incapable of being liquified within the limits of DOT aerosol cans, referred to herein as non-liquefiable gases. In this invention, it is demonstrated that non-liquefiable gases such as CO.sub.2 and N.sub.2 O can be used to provide foams using conventional single component foam chemical raw materials. The present invention provides an adhesive/sealant, expanded by a non-liquefiable gas propelled from a container initially and expanded by a blowing agent consisting primarily or exclusively of a non-liquefiable gas and formulated from a moisture curable polyurethane prepolymer using a low molecular weight isocyanate of two or more functionality. In one or more variations, the compositions of the present invention contain solubility enhancers for non-liquefiable gases such as CO.sub.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1996Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: Insta-Foam Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert Braun, Jess Garcia, Dawn Kissack, Gina Pietrzyk, Deborah Schutter

Patent number: 5441583Abstract: A multiple adhesive bead applicator has a handle member and a cross member. A network of adhesive distribution tubes is attached to the application and extends from the handle member to multiple distribution points in a preselected spacing on the cross member. Such an application is useful in a method for applying a cover member, such as an elastomeric membrane or insulation board, to a roofing substrate by first positioning the membrane adjacent a work area, then dispensing multiple beads of an adhesive onto the substrate in a preselected spacing and in a single pass and contacting the adhesive beads with the cover member.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1993Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Assignee: Insta-Foam Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert Eaton, Ross Wilson, Donald Partyka

Patent number: 5265761Abstract: A hand held dispenser for chemical foam compositions having enhanced service life and being capable of delivering higher outputs of foam products is provided. In accordance with the invention, a dispenser cartridge is mounted in sealed movable relation to a cartridge carrier. Reliable face to face compressible seals are employed to accomplish primary porting to pressurized sources of chemical components. The dispenser cartridge does not rely on a sealed interface between a cylindrical valving rod and a dimensionally unstable TEFLON.RTM. bushing for porting which provides improved sealing performance. Multiple porting from two or more pressurized sources of chemical components is also facilitated by the sliding seal feature.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1992Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Assignee: Insta-Foam Products, Inc.Inventor: Daniel P. Patent number: 5165210Abstract: A method for forming a temporary seal between a roof substrate and a flexible membrane is disclosed. At the end of a work day, the roofing membrane is folded upon itself along a foldline to define a leading edge of the membrane. An expandable polyurethane foam is injected into the interface formed between the membrane leading edge and the roof substrate. The foam is allowed to expand into a wedge shape and adhere to the membrane leading edge and roof substrate. After it cures, the foam wedge is substantially impervious to water and moisture migration. When work is resumed, the membrane is peeled away from the formed wedge, preferably at an angle, and the existing roof substrate is removed.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1991Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: Insta-Foam Products, Inc.Inventors: Donald F.
