Abstract: Substantially pure biological culture of a strain of the species Pseudomonas graminis, deposited with number CBS136973 at the depositary institution “Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures” (CBS) in Utrecht, Netherlands. Use of the CBS136973 culture as an antagonist for the biocontrol of foodborne pathogenic bacteria in fruit intended for human consumption. Method for treating the fruit which comprises the step of applying a preparation that comprises a culture of a strain of the species Pseudomonas graminis, deposited with number CBS136973 at the depositary institution “Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures” (CBS) in Utrecht, Netherlands, to the fruit. The application thereof makes it possible to reduce the growth of pathogens during the shelf life of the product, especially when the cold chain is broken.

Abstract: The invention provides pre-mixture for animal feeding comprising: (a) a polymer or a mixture of polymers, with a content in mannose comprised between 10% and 100%; (b) ?-mannanase enzyme; and (c) an anti-binding agent; wherein the anti-binding agent has an absorptive capacity higher than 20%, and a bulk density which is comprised between 0.10 and 2.70 g/cm3. The pre-mixture of the invention diffuses better through the intestinal tract and effectively inhibits the colonization of Gram negative bacteria without affecting the growth of the animal.

Abstract: A new and distinct apple variety of Malus domestica named ‘HOT84A1’ and characterized by its attractive appearance, its dark red color, and is notable for its long storage life. The variety results from crossing the apple varieties ‘Scired’ (not patented) and ‘Scilate’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 20,477) in Havelock North, New Zealand.
