Patents Assigned to Institut Francois du Petrole
  • Patent number: 7250142
Abstract: Device for mixing and distributing a dense, generally liquid, fluid and a light, generally gaseous, fluid, placed in a reaction chamber upstream from a granular bed (70) or between two successive granular beds, the said device being characterized by a tubular system (50) for the introduction of dense fluid from outside the reactor, up to a level lower than the level of establishment of the interface between the dense fluid and the light fluid, situated above the plate and preferably more or less next to that of the plate (62). Application of this device to any type of gas/liquid reaction in a fixed bed in particular for hydrotreatment.

  • Patent number: 7160836
Abstract: The invention describes materials comprising organic groups containing sulphur and phosphorous bonded together by a hydrocarbon chain and bonded via phosphorous and oxygen atoms to a mineral oxide of an element M, said materials being characterized in that they comprise M-O-M? bonds, M?representing an element of a mineral oxide identical to or different from M, in that the ratio of the element M to the phosphorous is about 0.5: 1 to about 500:1 and in that each phosphorous atom of the phosphorous-containing groups forms at least one P—O-M bond and/or P—O-M? bond. The invention also describes a process for preparing such materials.

  • Patent number: 6849445
Abstract: A process for treatment of aqueous effluents, for example, an aquifer, that contains at least methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE) or methyl-tert-amyl ether (TAME) so as to reduce the concentration of said ether is described, characterized in that a Mycobacterium austroafricanum I-2562 bacterium is grown under aerobic conditions in the presence of a growth substrate that contains said ether, and said ether is degraded by said bacterium down to the final degradation products, carbon dioxide and water. The results are improved in the presence of yeast extract.

  • Publication number: 20010042704
Abstract: The present invention relates to trioctahedral phyllosilicates 2:1 of a stevensite or kerolite type containing fluorine, fluorinated in synthesis in an acid medium in the presence of hydrofluoric acid and/or another source of fluoride anions. The invention also relates to a method of preparation to obtain said phyllosilicate. The existence of gaps enables adjustable quantities of cations to be incorporated in the gaps and hence the exchange capacity of said solids to be modulated. These phyllosilicates, raw from synthesis or after post-synthesis modification, may be incorporated in the composition of catalysts used to convert hydrocarbons, in particular for hydrocracking.

  • Patent number: 6103652
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for moving bed regeneration of a reforming or aromatic hydrocarbon production catalyst. The catalyst includes a support, at least one noble metal and at least one halogen. The process includes a combustion step in which the catalyst is treated in at least two successive combustion zones. Also, the process includes each combustion zone separated from adjacent combustion zones allowing catalyst to pass and preventing passage of gas, at least one oxygen-containing gas introduced into each zone and produced gases extracted from each zone, and the severity of the operating conditions in each zone increasing in the direction of catalyst flow. Advantageously, the combustion step ends in a zone for monitoring and controlling combustion completion characterized by a low or zero oxygen consumption.

  • Patent number: 6037512
Abstract: The invention concerns the use of a catalyst for the dismutation of alkylaromatic hydrocarbons, and preferably for the dismutation of toluene to produce benzene and xylenes, and/or for the transalkylation of alkylaromatic hydrocarbons, preferably for the transalkylation of toluene and trimethylbenzenes to produce xylenes. The catalyst comprises a zeolite with structure type mazzite, comprising silicon and at least one element T selected from the group formed by gallium and aluminium, preferably aluminium, in which the number of extra-network T atoms is less than 15% of the global number of T atoms present in the zeolite, in which the global Si/T aromatic ratio is in the range 5 to 100, and its preparation by extraction of element T from the zeolitic framework, preferably by dealuminization of the framework by means of at least one hydrothermal treatment followed by at least one acid attack.
