  • Patent number: 6753290
Abstract: The present invention relates to catalyst compositions for purifying terephthalic acid from p-carboxybenzaldehyde, based on Group VIII metals, comprising crystallites of catalytically active palladium or of palladium and at least one metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table of Elements, applied to the surface of a carbon material, wherein a mesoporous graphite-like material with the average mesopore size in the range of from 40 to 400 Å, the proportion of the mesopores in the total pore volume of at least 0.5, and the degree of graphite-similarity of at least 20% is used as the carbon material, in which metal crystallites are distributed in the volume of the carbon material granules in such a manner that the distribution peaks of these crystallites should be at a distance from the outer surface of the granule corresponding to 1-30% of its radius.

  • Patent number: 5925801
Abstract: A process for preparing high-octane gasoline components consists in that a feed stock, composed of isobutane and olefins, preferably butylenes, in a molar ratio between 1 and 40, is contacted at temperatures of from about 50 to about 160.degree. C. and at pressures of from about 1 to about 40 atm. with a heterogeneous acid catalyst, whose active component is a metal-complex or metaloxopolymeric compound of the general formula H.sub.k (Me.sup.1); (Me.sup.2).sub.m O.sub.n X.sub.p wherein k=1-6; j=1-3; m=1-5; n=1-10, p=2-10, dispersed in a porous organic or inorganic matrix, followed by the extraction regeneration of the deactivated catalyst with an organic or inorganic solvent.

  • Patent number: 5728837
Abstract: A method has been developed for preparing nicotinic acid with a yield of 82-86% mol, in which method there is no formation of harmful gas wastes and liquid wastes. The process is carried out by gas-phase single-step oxidation of .beta.-picoline with oxygen in the presence of water vapor and a catalyst on the base of oxides of vanadium and titanium, with or without additives, at a temperature of 250.degree.-290.degree. C. and mole ratios O.sub.2 :.beta.-picoline=15-40 and H.sub.2 O:.beta.-picoline=10-70.

  • Patent number: 5401479
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the purification of off-gases containing nitrogen oxides. An off-gas is passed through a reactor in admixture with ammonia or an ammonia precursor over a plurality of spaced catalyst beds under conditions to reduce the nitrogen oxides to nitrogen gas while heat is liberated. After the gas stream has obtained a desired temperature, the gas flow is reversed.
