    Abstract: The present invention relates to water-soluble binuclear cationic nitrosyl iron complexes with natural aliphatic thiolyls of general formula [Fe2(SR)2(NO)4]SO4, wherein R is sulfur-containing aliphatic ligands of natural origin, preferably, cystamine or penicillamine, to a method for the preparation thereof, to use thereof as an anticancer agent, to an apoptosis inducer, to a pharmaceutical composition comprising said complexes in an effective amount, and to a kit useful for the treatment of cancer diseases.
