Abstract: A metal circuit structure is provided. The metal circuit structure includes a substrate, a first trigger layer and a first metal circuit layer. The first trigger layer is disposed on the substrate and includes a first metal circuit pattern. The first metal circuit layer is disposed on the first circuit pattern and is electrically insulated from the substrate. The composition of the first trigger layer includes an insulating gel and a plurality of trigger particles. The trigger particles are at least one of organometallic particles, a chelation and a semiconductor material having an energy gap greater than or equal to 3 eV. The trigger particles are disposed in the insulating gel, such that the dielectric constant of the first trigger layer after curing is between 2 and 6.5.

Abstract: A biomass-derived thermosetting polymer material being a product of processing a biomass feed material via a twin screw extruder having a length extending between an inlet and an outlet. Hot water from a water heater is injected into at least one inlet along the length of the twin screw extruder, the at least one inlet generally corresponding with a pressure boundary within the twin screw extruder. A pressure-sustaining valve is connected between the length of the twin screw extruder and the outlet, with the valve being adjusted to produce the biomass-derived thermosetting polymer material.
Abstract: Polymeric mist control materials, methods of forming polymeric mist control materials, and methods of using such materials for mist control are provided. The polymeric mist control additives are formed of molecules comprised predominantly of monomers that confer high solubility in fuel and include associative groups that attract each other in donor-acceptor manner, and are incorporated such that multiple associative groups are in close proximity (“clusters”), such that the clusters are separated by very long non-associative sequences.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for the synthesis of monodispersed luminescent quantum dots of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC), single- or few-layered, using a single-step electrochemical exfoliation that involves dilute ionic liquid and water. The method disclosed helps to obtain nanoclusters of TMDC of desired size including small sizes ranging up to 6 nm, by varying the concentration of the electrolyte and the applied DC voltage. The invention further discloses a method by which mono- or few-layered luminescent transition metal dichalcogenides can be directly deposited onto conducting substrates in a uniform manner. The monodispersed single- or few-layered luminescent TMDC and electro-deposited substrates exhibit improved electronic conductivity and new active sites, making them suitable as high-performance electrocatalysts in hydrogen evolution reactions in solar water-splitting applications and also as electrodes for solar cell applications.

Abstract: A region of interest (ROI) generation method for stereo-based pedestrian detection systems. A vertical gradient of a clustered depth map is used to find ground plane and variable-sized bounding boxes are extracted on a boundary of the ground plane as ROIs. The ROIs are then classified into pedestrian and non-pedestrian classes. Simulation results show the algorithm outperforms the existing monocular and stereo-based methods.

Abstract: Network coding and multiple packet reception (MPR) are used together to improve message dissemination speed in a wireless network using half duplex communication. In at least one embodiment, MPR is used to initially distribute data packets from a number of source nodes in the network to the other nodes of the network. Network coding techniques may then be used to perform backfilling within the network to supply data packets to the source nodes that were originally missed due to the half duplex constraint.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for transmitting power and data along a metal pipe using wideband acoustic waves. Arrangements use shear-horizontal waves, transmitting narrowband signals for power applications and wideband signals for communications having a bandwidth greater than the coherence bandwidth of the acoustic-electric channel. Chirp wave signals, direct sequence spread signals, and on-off keying are used. Acoustic-electric channels include wedges fixed to a pipe or other substrate, transducers fixed to the wedges, and electronics linked to each transducer for sending and receiving power and signals. Matching networks, rectification circuits, and non-coherent signal reception methods may be used.
