Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring power using a sensing tag are provided. The power measuring apparatus includes a power sensing tag and a power measurement control system. The power sensing tag is installed in a line along which power is supplied to a load of a target device, and measures power consumed by the load. The power measurement control system receives power information measured by the power sensing tag from the power sensing tag, and determines power consumed by the load by using the measured power information.

Abstract: The invention describes the development of more potent peptide vaccines to prevent or treat infections or cancer. Small synthetic peptides from the known sequences of viral, bacterial, parasitic or tumor antigens are modified so they can spontaneously form complexes with a synthetic nucleic acid, such as Poly IC, that functions as an immunological adjuvant. The peptide-nucleic acid complexes are dramatically more immunogenic as compared to the separate components. The procedure for developing the vaccine involves the conjugation of a synthetic peptide containing a C residue to poly-K using a bi-functional cross-linking reagent (SMCC). The peptide/poly-K complex was then formulated with CMC and poly-IC to produce a self-adjuvant vaccine that was 36-fold more effective as compared to the same peptide administered mixed with the same adjuvant (but not complexed to it).

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring the properties of a fluid, such as water, in a steam pipe without mechanically penetrating the wall of the pipe. The system uses a piezoelectric transducer to launch an ultrasonic probe signal into the pipe. Reflected ultrasonic signals are captured in a transducer, which can be the same transducer that launched the probe signal. The reflected signals are subjected to data processing, which can include filtering, amplification, analog-to-digital conversion and autocorrelation analysis. A result is extracted which is indicative of a property of the fluid, such as a height of the condensed fluid, a cavitation of the condensed fluid, and a surface perturbation of the condensed fluid. The result can be recorded, displayed, and/or transmitted to another location. One embodiment of the system has been constructed and tested based on a general purpose programmable computer using instructions recorded in machine-readable non-volatile memory.

Abstract: A taste masked particulate pharmaceutical formulation include a core that comprises an active pharmaceutical ingredient; at least a partial nanoparticle material layer on the core that comprises a nanoparticle material with a median particle size not greater than 100 nm; a first polymer layer that is at least partially water soluble and a second polymer layer that is water insoluble. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is completely released in 30 minutes in the USP Dissolution Test. A process of making the particulate pharmaceutical formulation using sequential fluidized bed coating steps under controlled conditions is also described.
Abstract: Disclosed are a functional reinforcing filler including inorganic particles surface-modified with an alkenylsilanol obtained by hydrolyzing an alkenylalkoxysilane compound, and a method for preparing the same. Since the disclosed functional reinforcing filler has a functional group having a double bond, it has good reactivity for styrene-butadiene rubber and sulfur. Thus, when used as a functional reinforcing filler in the manufacture of rubber, it allows improvement of physical properties through adjustment of the addition amount of sulfur without additional use of the coupling agent. In addition, because of superior hydrolysis reactivity, the problem of alcohol can be solved and a rubber mixture with long scorch time can be prepared. In particular, when the functional reinforcing filler of the present invention is used in the manufacture of tires, improvement in modulus, tensile strength, rotational resistance and wet traction performance can be expected.

Abstract: A system and method for constructing a scene clip, and a record medium thereof are provided. The system includes media supply equipment, a metadata server, a scene server, and an end device. The media supply equipment is used for providing media data.
