  • Patent number: 9774241
Abstract: In a multilevel power conversion circuit, output harmonic waves and electromagnetic noise can be reduced as the number of output levels is increased. This, however, increases the number of elements constituting the circuit, causing the degree of difficulty in mounting to increase, cost to increase, and reliability to decrease. It is necessary to provide a circuit configuration, a design method, and a mounting method for obtaining, at low cost, a multilevel power conversion circuit using a large number of elements. A power conversion circuit is used as a unit module and is equipped with input and output terminals each mounted on the main circuit in an open state, wherein the input and output terminals have a mechanism by which the input and output terminals can be flexibly interconnected with the input and output terminals of another same module.

  • Patent number: 9772282
Abstract: System for scatter-based differentiation of cells. The system includes a planar substrate having cells disposed thereon for imaging and a microscope employing relatively low magnification detection optics providing a wide field of view focused on the cells on the substrate and defining a microscope optical axis. An illuminator delivers light to the ceils on the substrate focused to a spot larger than the field of view of the microscope, the illuminator having an illumination optical axis highly oblique to the microscope optical axis wherein scattered light is collected by the microscope. A defection system receives the scattered light from the microscope to provide a measure of signal intensity and a measure of size for each cell for discrimination of cell type.

  • Patent number: 9770513
Abstract: The invention describes the development of more potent peptide vaccines to prevent or treat infections or cancer. Small synthetic peptides from the known sequences of viral, bacterial, parasitic or tumor antigens are modified so they can spontaneously form complexes with a synthetic nucleic acid, such as Poly IC, that functions as an immunological adjuvant. The peptide-nucleic acid complexes are dramatically more immunogenic as compared to the separate components. The procedure for developing the vaccine involves the conjugation of a synthetic peptide containing a C residue to poly-K using a bi-functional cross-linking reagent (SMCC). The peptide/poly-K complex was then formulated with CMC and poly-IC to produce a self-adjuvant vaccine that was 36-fold more effective as compared to the same peptide administered mixed with the same adjuvant (but not complexed to it).
