  • Patent number: 9448121
Abstract: A measurement method, a measurement apparatus, and a computer program product for measuring a thermoelectric module are provided. A temperature is provided to the thermoelectric module. A current is applied to the thermoelectric module to turn both sides of the thermoelectric module into a hot side and a cold side. The temperature of the hot side is higher than that of the cold side. A terminal voltage of the thermoelectric module, a hot side temperature of the hot side, and a cold side temperature of the cold side are measured at different time points. A thermoelectric relationship between the terminal voltages and differences between the hot side temperatures and the corresponding cold side temperatures is obtained according to the terminal voltages, the hot side temperatures, and the cold side temperatures. At least one first parameter of the thermoelectric module is estimated according to the thermoelectric relationship.

  • Patent number: 9446585
Abstract: A handheld inkjet printer includes an inkjet print head and a tip. One or more sensors measure the position of points on a curved surface that are physically touched by the tip while the tip is moved relative to the surface. Based on these measurements, a computer generates or modifies a computer model that specifies at least (i) position of the curved surface, and (ii) a target region of the curved surface on which a pattern is to be printed. In addition, the one or more sensors measure position and orientation of nozzles in the print head, while the handset is moved relative to the surface. The computers also calculate, based on the computer model and these additional measurements, which of the nozzles to fire at a different times, such that the pattern is printed on the target region as the handset is moved relative to the surface.

  • Patent number: 9448066
Abstract: In exemplary implementations of this invention, a jammable structure functions as an HCI interface. A user provides input by changing the shape of a flexible layer of the jammable structure (e.g., by pressing against it or stretching, twisting or bending it) and receives haptic feedback (e.g., varying stiffness). Sensors are used to determine the shape of the flexible layer. The sensors output data that is indicative of electromagnetic waves that have traveled through the jammable media or of electrical or magnetic phenomena that are produced by the waves. For example, visible or infrared light may be shone through a transparent jammable media to the flexible layer and reflect back to a camera. The media may comprise granular particles (e.g., glass beads) and a liquid (e.g., oil) with matching indices of refraction. Or capacitive sensing may be used to detect the shape of the flexible layer.

  • Patent number: 9449597
Abstract: An ultrasound receiving method is provided. N return-wave signals corresponding to N channels are respectively stored in N set of shift register arrays. Each set includes a delay filter unit and M shift registers. A delay controller is utilized to assign a set of coefficients to the delay filter unit to perform an interpolation operation on data of the M shift registers to obtain an output value. The delay controller is utilized to decide delay time of each channel according to a delay table, and accordingly to control a time multiplexer to switch and output the N output values in order. A multiplier is utilized to multiply the output value received from the time multiplexer by a weighted value corresponding to the channel to obtain a corrected value. An accumulator is utilized to accumulate the N corrected values to obtain an image value.

  • Patent number: 9447230
Abstract: A process for producing a copolyester through the production of an AB monomer of isoidide - Isodide 2-(4-carbomethoxyphenyl) ether. In certain aspects, the AB monomer is produced by performing the steps of: protecting the 2-position of isosorbide with a protecting group; functionalizing the 5-position of isosorbide with a suitable leaving group to form a reactive ester; nucleophilicly displacing the leaving group in a reaction with an alkali metal alkoxide or phenoxide to give an isoidide ether through a stereochemical inversion of the 5-position; and removing the protective moiety to create the AB monomer. In certain embodiments, the copolyester is produced by melting the AB monomer and a polyester, optionally with a catalyst.

  • Patent number: 9447054
Abstract: Disclosed is an anticancer supplement agent including a benzo[d]oxazole derivative as an effective ingredient. The benzo[d]oxazole derivative, which is a nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) inhibitor, is capable of inhibiting activity of Nrf2 that induces an antioxidant enzyme to remove reactive oxygen species (ROS) that kills a cancer cell, thereby increasing production of ROS. Therefore, the benzo[d]oxazole derivative can be used as an anticancer supplement agent that shows therapeutic effects in anticancer agent therapy or radiation therapy, and in this regard, the benzo[d]oxazole derivative can overcome tolerance of the cancer cell to anticancer agent therapy or radiation therapy and enhance apoptotic effects on the cancer cell.

  • Patent number: 9451177
Abstract: In exemplary implementations of this invention, a camera can capture multiple millions of frames per second, such that each frame is 2D image, rather than a streak. A light source in the camera emits ultrashort pulses of light to illuminate a scene. Scattered light from the scene returns to the camera. This incoming light strikes a photocathode, which emits electrons, which are detected by a set of phosphor blocks, which emit light, which is detected by a light sensor. Voltage is applied to plates to create an electric field that deflects the electrons. The voltage varies in a temporal “stepladder” pattern, deflecting the electrons by different amounts, such that the electrons hit different phosphor blocks at different times during the sequence. Each phosphor block (together with the light sensor) captures a separate frame in the sequence. A mask may be used to increase resolution.

  • Patent number: 9447062
Abstract: A manumycin-type metabolite called Colabomycin E which inhibits caspase 1 and creation of interleukins, strain produces the Colabomycin E and a method of a production of the Colabomycin E. Colabomycin E is a new member of the manumycin-type metabolites produced by the strain Streptomyces aureus SOK1/5-04 deposited in The Czech collection of microorganisms under number CCM8556. The structure of 5 is similar to that of the already known metabolite colabomycin A (3) isolated from Streptomyces griseoflavus. However, the upper polyene chain of 5 is two carbons longer. Therefore, it was named Colabomycin E. Biological activity assays indicated that colabomycin E significantly inhibited IL-1? release from THP-1 cells and might thus potentially act as an anti-inflammatory agent.

  • Patent number: 9447063
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel disubstituted adamantyl derivative or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, a method for preparing the same, and a pharmaceutical anticancer or antimetastasis composition comprising the same as an active ingredient. The disubstituted adamantyl derivative of the present invention suppressed accumulation of HIF-1?, inhibiting the expression of the metastasis related protein Twist dose-dependently. Thus, the disubstituted adamantyl derivative of the invention is effective in inhibiting the expressions of the metastasis related proteins, ?-catenin and RohA, and the EMT related genes such as MMP2 and MMP9, without cytotoxicity. Therefore, the disubstituted adamantyl derivative or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof of the invention can be efficiently used as a pharmaceutical anticancer or antimetastasis composition.
