    Abstract: Techniques to search for data elements in a distributed computing environment are described. An apparatus may comprise a processor and a memory unit communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory unit may store a correlation module that when executed by the processor is operative to determine a target rank position at a target percentile rank within a total data set. The correlation module may determine a target data item at the target rank position for the total data set using candidate data items at candidate rank positions for each of multiple sorted data subsets of the total data set, and correlation values associated with each of the candidate data items. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

    Abstract: A femtocell, a femtocell gateway and an access rejection method thereof are provided. A wireless network system comprises a wireless device, a plurality of the femtocells, the femtocell gateway and a core network server. The wireless device has a Subscriber Identification and the core network server stores a Closed Subscribers Group Identification of the femtocells. The femtocell gateway receives an access rejection message corresponding to the Subscriber Identification of the wireless device from the core network server, and transmits the access rejection message to the femtocells. Each femtocell records the Subscriber Identification in a rejection list thereof, and it is capable of adding/deleting Subscriber Identifications in its rejection list.

    Abstract: A method for detecting objects is provided. The method comprises the steps outlined below. An image having pixels is acquired. Image blocks each corresponding to one of the pixels are generated. A specific image block is filtered using N filtering parameters that gradually enhance the blurriness of the specific image block to generate N filtering results. N RMSE values are computed, in which the M-th RMSE value is computed according to the M-th and the (M?1)-th filtering results. A slope of an approximate line is computed according to the RMSE values as the blurriness value of the specific image block. The above steps are repeated to generate the blurriness values of all the pixels. The blurriness value is compared to a threshold value to detect sharp pixels which are parts of a sharp object and further detect an in-focus object.

The catalyst of the present invention exhibits higher carbon dioxide conversion rate, significantly reduced catalyst deactivation caused by carbon deposition and improved long-term catalyst stability and activity, as compared to the existing catalyst for reforming reaction prepared by the impregnation method.

The expected collision route calculation unit calculates an expected collision route based on the information. The escape route calculation unit calculates escape routes if the possibility of a collision is above a set value. The control unit provides the escape routes, compares changes in actually measured positions of the vessels with the escape routes, and manages navigation on the results of the comparison between changes in the actually measured positions of the vessels and the escape routes.

    Abstract: Many pathogens, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Yersinia pestis, rely on an iron acquisition system based on siderophores, secreted iron-chelating compounds with extremely high Fe(III) affinity. The compounds of the invention are inhibitors of domain salicylation enzymes, which catalyze the salicylation of an aroyl carrier protein (ArCP) domain to form a salicyl-ArCP domain thioester intermediate via a two-step reaction. The compounds include the intermediate mimic 5?-O—[N-(salicyl)sulfamoyl]-adenosine (salicyl-AMS) and analogs thereof. These compounds are inhibitors of the salicylate activity of MbtA, YbtE, PchD, and other domain salicylation enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of siderophores. Therefore, these compounds may be used in the treatment of infection caused by microorganisms which rely on siderphore-based iron acquisition systems.
