Abstract: A method for prediction in image encoding and an image encoding apparatus applying the same are disclosed. The method includes steps of receiving a plurality of candidates with respect to a current prediction target of an image; calculating a distortion-based cost of a first candidate in the plurality of candidates; and for each of the other candidates, computing a data access availability and a data access requirement for calculating a distortion-based cost of a current candidate in the other candidates of the plurality of candidates; and if the data access requirement does not exceed the data access availability, calculating the distortion-based cost of the current candidate; otherwise, selecting the candidate with the minimum calculated distortion-based cost as a matched candidate for the current prediction target. Therefore, coding performance setback due to external memory data access is improved.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a signal processing apparatus includes an estimation unit and an updating unit. The estimation unit is configured to estimate an auxiliary variable of a target section including first and second sections of input signals by using an approximating auxiliary function for approximating an auxiliary function having an auxiliary variable as an argument. The auxiliary function is determined according to an objective function that outputs a function value that is smaller as a statistical independence of separated signals into which input signals in time-series are separated by a demixing matrix is higher. The estimation unit is configured to estimate a value of the auxiliary variable of the target section based on the estimated auxiliary variable. The updating unit is configured to update the demixing matrix such that a function value of the approximating auxiliary function is minimized.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises: forming a gate stack on a substrate; etching the substrate on both sides of the gate stack to form C-shaped source/drain grooves; and wet-etching the C-shaped source/drain grooves to form ?-shaped source/drain grooves. With this method, it is possible to effectively increase stress applied to a channel region, to accurately control a depth of the source/drain grooves, and to reduce roughness of side walls and bottom portions of the grooves and thus reduce defects by etching the C-shaped source/drain grooves and then further wet-etching them to form the ?-shaped source/drain grooves.

Abstract: The color filter array 21a comprises seven or more types of color filters including a first color filter. The seven or more types color filters have different spectral sensitivity characteristics. The seven or more types of color filters are arranged in a two-dimensional form. Among the seven or more types of color filters, at least two types of color filters are designated as a color filter of interest. Two color filters arranged at a first interval on both sides of the color filter of interest along a first direction are of the same type. Two color filters arranged at a second interval on both sides of the color filter of interest along a second direction that is different from the first direction are of the same type. Among the color filters, at least one type of color filter have a density higher than that of the other types of color filters, thereby realizing acquisition of highly accurate gradient information from a multiband color filter array.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of preparing of a phosphorus-containing phosphorus-alumina support by a sol-gel method and a cobalt/phosphorus-alumina catalyst where cobalt is supported onto the phosphorus-alumina support as an active ingredient. The phosphorus-alumina support is prepared by a sol-gel method and has wide specific surface area with bimodal pore size distribution and high cobalt dispersion, thereby enabling to increase heat and mass transfer, stabilize the structure by modifying the surface property of alumina and decrease the deactivation rate due to the reduced oxidation of cobalt component during the F-T reaction. When Fischer-Tropsch reaction (F-T) is conducted on the catalyst, the catalyst maintains a superior thermal stability, inhibits the deactivation due to water generation during the F-T reaction and also causes relatively high conversion of carbon monoxide and stable selectivity of liquid hydrocarbons.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hairpin-type probe for detecting a target substance and a method for detecting a target substance using the probe. The hairpin-type probe comprises a loop comprising a target substance recognition site, and a stem comprising an aptamer having an electrochemical signaling material bound thereto. The hairpin structure is broken when it is hybridized to the target substance, and thus the signaling material is separated from the aptamer and can freely move to the electrode. Based on the change in the electrochemical signal generated from the signaling material, the amount of the target substance can be accurately detected in real-time.
