    Abstract: Polymer nanocomposites including: a) a polylactic polymer; and b) a modified phyllosilicate composition including a modifying agent which includes hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium cations which are intercalated between the layers of the phyllosilicate, and preparation processes therefor, as well as the modified phyllosilicate composition. The polymer nanocomposites are particularly useful for packaging, particularly food and drink packaging.
