Patent number: 6219906Abstract: A knitted metalized yarn gasket fashioned from a core, a first tubular layer formed from a hot melt yarn around the core, and a second tubular structure knitted from a conductive yarn and disposed over at least a portion of the first tubular layer and core assembly. The hot melt yarn forming the first tubular layer adheres the second tubular structure to the core such that fraying of the knit gasket is substantially prevented.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1999Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: Instrument Specialties Co., Inc.Inventor: Anthony Michael Sosnowski

Patent number: 6073896Abstract: A gasket arrangement includes a gasket and a retention clip track. The retention clip track includes a substantially flat track having a first surface, a second surface, a first edge extending between the first surface and the second surface, and a second edge extending between the first surface and the second surface on an opposite side of the track from the first edge. At least one clip extending from the first edge, the clip and the track together forming a substantially C-shaped structure. The track has a plurality of adjacent saw tooth-shaped recesses extending from at least one of the second edge toward the first edge and the first edge toward the second edge. The gasket is attached to the track. A retention clip track, a method for making a gasket arrangement, and a method for installing a gasket arrangement are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1998Date of Patent: June 13, 2000Assignee: Instruments Specialties Co., Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey McFadden

Patent number: 4869671Abstract: An electrical conductor fashioned from an electrically conductive material such as copper has a body portion and a pair of laterally extending legs. The body portion and the legs cooperate to define a recess which is substantially filled with an insulating material. That insulating material has a surface recessed from the ends of the legs toward the body portion that, along with the surface of the printed circuit board defines a gap which is suitably sized to receive an epoxy adhesive for temporarily attaching the electrical conductor to the printed circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1988Date of Patent: September 26, 1989Assignee: Instrument Specialties Co., Inc.Inventors: Allan H. Pressley, David L. Zick

Patent number: 4864076Abstract: An electromagnetic shielding and environmental sealing device includes an elastomer strip that is attached to a metal strip. The metal strip includes a base member and a plurality of fingers that extend from one edge of the base member at an angle. The elastomer strip includes a base portion, an extension portion that is attached to one edge of the base portion and extends at an angle with respect to the base portion and a sealing portion that is attached to the opposite edge of the base portion. The base member of the metal strip has a plurality of cut-out areas positioned therein that define contact tabs. The contact tabs are capable of deflecting out of the plane defined by immediately adjoining areas of the base member when a force is applied to the device. In that way, proper electrical contact is maintained with respect to the device and the surface to which it is attached.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Assignee: Instrument Specialties Co., Inc.Inventor: William H. Stickney

Patent number: 4754101Abstract: An electromagnetic shield includes electrically conductive walls arranged to form a closed boundry. The walls include pins projecting from a lower edge to secure the shield on a printed circuit board and to provide a connection to a conducting layer in the printed circuit board and engagement prongs on the upper edge to engage a cover plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1986Date of Patent: June 28, 1988Assignee: Instrument Specialties Co., Inc.Inventors: William H Stickney, Ronald W. Brewer

Patent number: 4543447Abstract: The present invention relates to an electromagnetic shielding device. Further, the present invention relates to a arrangement for electromagnetic shielding of two adjacent relatively movable members having opposed surfaces with a space therebetween. The electromagnetic shielding device includes a resilient cap portion having a center portion and a plurality of segments extending radially outwardly therefrom. An arrangement for retaining the cap portion on one of the surfaces is provided. The retaining arrangement includes a thin disk adapted to be received between the segments of the cap portion and resilient tongues extending radially inwardly from an outer end of each of the segments. The cap portion in a free state has a height which is greater than the distance of the space between the opposed surfaces to be shielded. In this way, the cap portion is compressed to fit within the space upon movement of the members toward one another to ensure electrical connection between the two opposed surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1983Date of Patent: September 24, 1985Assignee: Instrument Specialties Co., Inc.Inventor: Ronald W.
