  • Patent number: 4239833
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a grid of precious metals for the recovery of platinum metals escaping from a catalyst during the reaction of oxidation of ammonia in the production process of nitric oxide. In the reactions conducted in the presence of the catalysts containing platinum metals at the incandesence temperature a loss in the mass of precious metals occurs, which disadvantageously effects the economy of the process. For the recovery of platinum escaping from a catalyst during the reaction of oxidation of ammonia the grids mainly used are those made of palladium-gold alloy, which, in order to increase their strength, are spot-welded into packs, or the separating grids of heat-resisting materials are used. The known methods of increasing the strength and the durability of the recovery grids are disadvantageous, as the flow of reactants through a pack of grids meets additional resistance, which causes a decrease of the process effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 4193776
Abstract: The object of the invention is a method for the purification of the process condensate from synthesis gases or hydrogen plant. The process condensate is purified from contaminations dissolved in it by stripping it with process steam before it is used in the chemical process of the raw material conversion into hydrogen or synthesis gas at the pressure that is equal or higher than the pressure of this conversion process. The total steam containing volatile products of the process condensate degassing is recycled to the gas generation process and the process condensate is eventual transported to the water treatment station before using it as boiler feed water.

  • Patent number: 4019969
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of manufacturing catalytic tubes with wall-supported catalyst particularly for steam reforming of hydrocarbons and methanation, wherein at first a porous layer of metal sponge is laid on the tube surface by the known method of electrolysis, wherein said tube is permanently filled with electrolyte and a shield mounted on the anode is raised step by step or in continuous manner during electrolysis. Said tube constitutes a cathode during electrolysis, and a metal bar placed in the axis of the tube forms an anode. The tube is roasted at a temperature of 800.degree.-1200.degree. C, then salts are introduced into the sponge, which after roasting yield metal oxides irreducible in the presence of a hydrogen and salts, which yield reducible metal oxides, and coating the layer with salts is performed by known methods using aqueous solutions of salts, and after coating the roasting is carried out.
