  • Patent number: 10035631
Abstract: Container top assemblies and methods of fabrication thereof are provided. Product management and tracking of data for customizable data points is further provided. A customer account is configured based on provided customer information, and a product template for a product type is configured, where configuring the product template defines data points for which data about a product of that product type are to be maintained. The data points may be defined according to customer specification. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag data is received, the RFID tag data being of an RFID tag embedded within a product of the product type, and the product is registered with a database and associated with the account for the customer. The RFID tag data uniquely identifies the product in the database, and the registering configures the database to maintain data about the product for the data points defined by the product template.

  • Publication number: 20110278254
Abstract: Septa or seals, sealing arrangements and methods of sealing containers are disclosed. The septa may be used for sealing containers containing medications or pharmaceuticals. The septa include a sheet of elastomeric material having a perimeter comprising at least one linear edge. Typically, the septa have a plurality of linear edges, for example, six, that provide a polygonal shaped seal, for example, a hexagonally shaped seal. The septa may be used in conjunction with plates having at least one linear edge, for example, hexagonally shaped plates. When mounted to a container with an appropriate cap, the linear edges of the septa and plates interact to minimize movement of the septa and enhance the sealing of the container.

  • Publication number: 20090065466
Abstract: A container top having an integral cover, for example, an integral dust cover, is provided. The container top includes a cap having a cylindrical skirt with a top, a bottom, a first outside diameter at the top of the skirt, a second outside diameter at the bottom of the skirt, and an inside surface adapted to engage a container; and a ring mounted to the top of the cylindrical skirt, the ring having an opening; and a cover removably mounted to the cap and occluding the opening in the ring. The container top may include a septum positioned in the opening, for example, a septum that can be pierced with a syringe. The container cap may be used in a wide range of industries, for example, the medical, pharmaceutical, the general scientific community, or in any industry where liquid or gaseous samples are handled.

  • Patent number: 6234335
Abstract: A sealing element for sealing a container includes a cap having a top with an opening therein in combination with a septum. The septum includes an elastomer in direct physical contact with an interior surface of the cap. The septum occludes the opening in the top. There is no layer of adhesive or plastic material between the elastomer and the interior surface of the cap. The cap may be made of plastic or metal. Also provided is a method of directly bonding an elastomer, such as silicone rubber, to a plastic or metal.

  • Patent number: 5647939
Abstract: The invention provides a method of directly bonding an elastomer, such as silicone rubber, to a plastic by separately ionizing a surface of the elastomer and ionizing a surface of the plastic and then immediately compressing the ionized surfaces together while applying pressure and heat. The invention further provides for an open top cap in which a silicone rubber septum is directly bonded to the flange of an open top plastic cap.
