Abstract: A computer forensic accelerator engine designed to speed up the forensic analysis process is disclosed. It is a device for use with an analysis device to analyze data on a suspect computer device, and includes a first interface for connecting to the suspect computer device, a second interface for connecting to the analysis device, and a processing unit programmed to read data from the suspect device via the first interface, perform analysis on the data, transmit the data to the analysis device via the second interface, and transmit results of the analysis to the analysis device via the second interface. A drive write protect module may be integrated in the computer forensic accelerator engine. The computer forensic accelerator engine allows data read from the suspect drive to be analyzed while acquiring the data. Also disclosed is a computer forensic analysis system and method using the computer forensic accelerator engine.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for utilizing a computer software program to implement a process of performing optional file operations to a data storage media. The method comprises the steps of: (1) selecting user files to be saved; (2) storing the selected user files; (3) performing optional file operations to the data storage media; and (4) restoring the stored selected user files back to the data storage media. This provides a fast, easy and convenient way to perform said optional data operation to any data storage media while preventing user selected files from being altered during the operation.

Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for duplicating direct access storage devices (DASDs) such as hard disk drives (HDDs). The apparatus includes a portable HDD duplicator which can be connected to an existing personal computer (PC), and perform fast data duplication directly from a source HDD to a multiplicity of target HDDs simultaneously. The method includes the steps of providing direct data paths between the source HDD and the target HDDs and performing high speed data duplication and comparison functions by reading the source HDD and writing to the target HDDs at the same time.
