    Abstract: Modular adapters and similar devices are provided by this invention which minimize electrostatic interference and arcing. These devices include a pair of electrical connectors joined together with a series of electrical conductors. Each of the connectors is provided with a surrounding electromagnetic shield, and these shields are bridged together with a separate conductor element. During use, these devices can be used to releasably connect between a grounded cordset and an outlet serial port of a device or network.
