Patent number: 11889504Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives control information over a physical downlink control channel in a shared radio resource space monitored by the WTRU. The control information includes radio resource assignment information and an indication of whether the control information includes radio resource assignment information for an uplink shared channel or whether the control information includes radio resource assignment information for a downlink shared channel. The WTRU determines whether the control information is intended for the WTRU based on WTRU identity-masked (ID-masked) cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits. The WTRU determines, based on the indication, whether the control information is for the uplink shared channel or whether the control information is for the downlink shared channel. The WTRU transmits data over the uplink shared channel based on the radio resource assignment information on a condition that the control information is determined to be for the uplink shared channel.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2021Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Marian Rudolf, Stephen G. Publication number: 20240032085Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for dynamic resource allocation, scheduling and signaling for variable data real time services (RTS) in long term evolution (LTE) systems. Preferably, changes in data rate for uplink RTS traffic are reported to an evolved Node B (eNB) by a UE using layer 1, 2 or 3 signaling. The eNB dynamically allocates physical resources in response to a change in data rate by adding or removing radio blocks currently assigned to the data flow, and the eNB signals the new resource assignment to the UE. In an alternate embodiment, tables stored at the eNB and the UE describe mappings of RTS data rates to physical resources under certain channel conditions, such that the UE uses the table to locally assign physical resources according to changes in UL data rates. Additionally, a method and apparatus for high level configuration of RTS data flows is also presented.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2023Publication date: January 25, 2024Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Arty Chandra, Jin Wang, Mohammed Sammour

Patent number: 11871371Abstract: A Node-B sends a polling message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU sends an uplink synchronization burst in response to the polling message without contention. The Node-B estimates an uplink timing shift based on the synchronization burst and sends an uplink timing adjustment command to the WTRU. The WTRU then adjusts uplink timing based on the uplink timing adjustment command. Alternatively, the Node-B may send a scheduling message for uplink synchronization to the WTRU. The WTRU may send a synchronization burst based on the scheduling message. Alternatively, the WTRU may perform contention-based uplink synchronization after receiving a synchronization request from the Node-B. The WTRU may enter an idle state instead of performing a handover to a new cell when the WTRU moves to the new cell. A discontinuous reception (DRX) interval for the WTRU may be set based on activity of the WTRU.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2022Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Jin Wang, John S. Chen, Mohammed Sammour, Stephen E. Terry, Arty Chandra, Guodong Zhang

Patent number: 11818068Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configured to transmit scheduling information over a first uplink channel, on a condition that the WTRU has an uplink scheduling grant to transmit uplink data. In response to a triggering condition, when the WTRU is not transmitting on the first uplink channel, the WTRU is configured to transmit a plurality of a same value over a second uplink channel. The second uplink channel is a control channel. The transmission of the plurality of the same value is based on having an insufficient uplink scheduling grant for the first uplink channel.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2020Date of Patent: November 14, 2023Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventor: Paul Marinier

Patent number: 11665572Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting a channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback period to increase uplink capacity in a wireless communication system are disclosed. The uplink capacity is increased by reducing the uplink interference caused by CQI transmissions. Publication number: 20220394545Abstract: In a wireless communication system including a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a Node-B, an uplink (UL) scheduling request is transmitted by the WTRU to the Node-B when the WTRU has buffered (user) data to transmit to the Node-B, but needs to have a scheduling grant for UL data transmission. The WTRU determines whether to transmit to the Node-B a short buffer status information message or a full buffer status information message, based on conditions, whereby the buffer status messages are transmitted with either a short-version UL scheduling request or a full-version UL scheduling request.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2022Publication date: December 8, 2022Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventor: Guodong Zhang

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING RESPONSIVENESS IN EXCHANGING FRAMES IN A WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK
Publication number: 20220182875Abstract: A method and system for improving responsiveness in exchanging management and control frames in a wireless local area network are disclosed. An initiator sends a frame (action frame, management frame, CSI frame, control frame, or data frame) to a responder. Upon correctly receiving the frame, the responder sends a response frame to the initiator instead of directly sending an acknowledgement (ACK) packet. The responder preferably accesses the wireless medium to send the response frame in a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS). With this scheme, a long delay associated with having to contend for the wireless medium to send the response frame is avoided and therefore, the responsiveness and timeliness of the feedback mechanism is significantly enhanced. The response frame may be piggybacked on or aggregated with another packet.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2022Publication date: June 9, 2022Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Arty Chandra, Eldad M.
