Publication number: 20090113901Abstract: A method and an apparatus for servicing a coolant system is disclosed. Using the apparatus, a user may fill the coolant system with coolant. The user may also measure a current pressure of the coolant system. The apparatus then compares the current pressure with a predetermined pressure associated with an ambient temperature to determine a coolant charge status. The apparatus alerts a user to the coolant charge status of the coolant system using an indicating device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2007Publication date: May 7, 2009Applicant: Interdynamics Inc.Inventors: Vincent F. Patent number: 7275383Abstract: A portable device for measuring the refrigerant pressure in an automobile air conditioning system and, if needed, charging the system with additional refrigerant, is provided. An actuator is coupled to a pressurized container that selectively opens the container valve. A hose is provided, the first end of which is connected to the actuator, and the second end is coupleable to a service port of an automobile air conditioner. A T-connector with a check valve is disposed in the hose, and a pressure gauge is connected to the T-connector. When the second end of the hose is coupled to a service port and the actuator is not activated, the pressure gauge measures a pressure of the air conditioner. When the second end is coupled to a service port and the actuator is activated, refrigerant is released from the pressurized container and into the air conditioner.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2005Date of Patent: October 2, 2007Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventors: Ken Motush, Thomas Gottlieb, Vincent Carrubba

Patent number: 6898979Abstract: A portable hand-held device for measuring the pressure in an automobile air conditioning system includes a socket adapted to connect to a service port, an internal passage in communication with the socket, and a pressure gauge disposed in the housing selectively in communication with the internal passage. A valve is interposed between the internal passage and the gauge. When the socket is engaged to a service port of an automobile air conditioning system, gas from the automobile air conditioning system enters the socket, passes through the internal passage, and is read by the pressure gauge. A button is provided having a ramped portion, and a pin contacts the ramped portion of the button at one end at the valve at the other end. When the button is depressed, the pin raises the valve into an open position to allow pressurized gas trapped on a gauge side of the valve to be released via the socket to reset the gauge.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2003Date of Patent: May 31, 2005Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventors: David M. Patent number: 6789581Abstract: A tire repair device is provided. A receptacle/port is in communication with the air flow path; the receptacle/port is adapted to sealingly receive a container of tire sealant. When the air compressor is activated and a container of tire sealant is received in or secured to the receptacle or port, air from the air compressor is forced into the container and pushes tire sealant out of the container, into and out of the receptacle, into the air flow path, and into a tire. Preferably, the receptacle includes a piercing projection disposed in the receptacle adapted to pierce a seal on a container of tire sealant secured in the receptacle. Preferably, the intake and the exhaust are configured in the receptacle so that both the intake and the exhaust are opposite substantially the same opening of a container of tire sealant received in or secured to in the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2002Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventors: David Cowan, Jochen Schäpers, Saul Trachtenberg

Patent number: 6698466Abstract: A dispensing adapter for connecting pressurized containers to other valved systems such as automobile air conditioners is provided. The housing has a dispensing end, a receiving end, and fluid flow channel communicating between the dispensing end and the receiving end. The receiving end sealingly engages a first valve of a pressurized container, and the dispensing end sealingly engages a second valve such as a service port of an automobile air conditioner. When the dispensing end is attached to the service port, the core depressor opens the service port. A button, when depressed, pushes down and thus opens the valve on the pressurized container. The housing may be angled or straight.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: March 2, 2004Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventors: David M. Cowan, Jochen Schapers, Saul Trachtenberg, Nikolay V. Patent number: 6648035Abstract: A dispensing adapter for connecting pressurized containers to other valved systems such as automobile air conditioners is provided. The housing has a dispensing end, a receiving end, and an interior volume communicating between the dispensing end and the receiving end. The receiving end sealingly engages a first valve of a pressurized container, and the dispensing end sealingly engages a second valve such as a service port of an automobile air conditioner. A reciprocatable core depressor is disposed inside the housing. When dispensing end is attached to the service port, the core depressor is moved toward the receiving end of the housing, and the proximal end of the core depressor engages a stem of the first valve and opens the first valve. The housing maybe angled or straight, and the core depressor may have a piercing pin to open puncture valve containers.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2003Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventors: David M. Patent number: 6446453Abstract: A unitary hose connection for servicing an automobile air conditioning system is provided. A first connector is disposed at one first end and is connectable with a low pressure service port of an automobile air conditioning system. A second connector is disposed at the other end of the hose and is selectively connectable with both a pressure gauge and a can tap valve. The can tap valve is attachable to a can of compressed refrigerant. When a pressure gauge is attached to the second connector and the first connector is attached to the service port, the pressure of the refrigerant in the automobile air conditioning system can be measured. When the second connector is attached to the can tap valve, the compressed refrigerant in the can may be introduced into the automobile air conditioning system to thereby service the system. The hose connection, pressure gauge, can tap valve, and can of refrigerant may be packaged together in a kit.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2000Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: Interdynamics, Inc.Inventor: Saul Trachtenberg
