    Abstract: A fastener for a closure. The fastener has a friction joint which couples first (10) and second (23) elements such that rotational movement there between can occur. The friction joint has a head fastener (28) and a sleeve (24) to which an end load is applied upon axial movement of the fastening taking place during coupling of the first and second elements (10, 23). This end load causes the sleeve (24) to collapse. The fastener has a wedge element (37) mounted for rectilinear movement in a direction substantially transversed to the axis of rotational movement of the friction joint. A drive arrangement (35) couples the wedge element (37) with the second element (23) such that rotation of the second element (23) is translated into the rectilinear movement of the wedge element (37). A removable handle (44) couples via fingers (49) to second element (23).

    Abstract: A folding handle for attachment to a rotatable shaft element. The handle includes a handle body 10 having a cavity 17 within which a mounting block 20 is engaged. The mounting block 20 has oppositely projecting pivot members 21 slidingly engaged in recesses 19 in the walls 18 of the cavity 17. The pivot members 21 therefore engage with bearing surfaces 19a to facilitate pivotal movement of the handle body 10 relative to the mounting block 20. A clip 24 retains the mounting block 20 in cavity 17. No pivot pin is therefore visible.

The window operator may further include an interconnection linkage pivotally coupling the first and second linkages.

    Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a window stay. The mounting arrangement comprises a mounting bracket 11 which is mountable to a part of a window construction such as a window frame or window sash. The mounting bracket 11 has an abutment 25 with an opening 26 to receive a tab 27 at one end of the mounting base 10 of the window stay. The mounting bracket 11 also has a clip 23 which can engage with a cut-out 28 in the mounting base 10 of the window stay. The window stay can thus be quickly located with a mounting base already mounted to a window construction.

Control bars (14) within the mullion are operable by a handle (11). The control bars (14) are selectively movable to be moved to a removal position which is beyond the extremes of the normal extent of movement between open and closed positions so that one or more of the blade mounts (20) can be removed from the mullion (10). The control bars (14) can be prevented from moving to the removal position by a limit device located in an opening (26) in the mullion (10).

    Abstract: A lock for the locking of a sliding closure. The lock includes a housing (10) with a pair of hook shaped locking elements (11) which are mounted for counter-rotation within the housing. A handle (26) is mounted for rotation on the housing and is coupled to a gear wheel (23) which meshes with a pair of rack elements (30,32) which are located for sliding movement in the housing (10). A projection (34) from each rack element (30,32) engages in a curved slot (35) of the locking element (11). Consequently, rotation of the handle (26) results in a sliding movement of each of the racks (30,32) which causes the locking elements to move between a first position where the locking elements are substantially retracted in the housing (10) and a second position where the locking elements can latchingly engage with a strike.

The handle (14) is movable about the pivot axle (17) to move the end of the latch tongue (18) away from its latching contact with the latching surface (23) of latch plate (21) to permit the window sash (S) to move from the closed position.
