  • Patent number: 10607718
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include method, systems and computer program products for algebraic phasing of polyploids. Aspects of the invention include receiving a matrix including a set of two or more single-nucleotide poloymorphisms (SNPs) for two or more sample organisms. Each row of the matrix is set to a ploidy based on a number of ploidies present in the two or more sample organisms. Each allele in the set of two or more SNPs is represented as a binary number. A set of algebraic rules is received, wherein the set of algebraic rules include an algebraic phasing algorithm. And the set of algebraic rules are applied to the matrix to determine a haplotype of a parent of the two or more sample organisms.

  • Publication number: 20150053020
Abstract: A system comprises a plurality of fans, wherein each of the fans is configurable to run at a unique fan speed that is different from fan speeds of other fans from the plurality of fans. A plurality of variable-positioned devices, capable of being positioned at various locations within the system, are physically positioned such that airflow from one of the plurality of fans strikes a particular variable-positioned device. A plurality of anemometers, each of which is connected to a particular variable-positioned device, measure airflow across the variable-positioned devices. A system controller, which contains location information that identifies a physical position within the system of each of the plurality of fans, utilizes airflow readings from each of the anemometers to identify a physical location of each of the plurality of variable-positioned devices by matching physical locations of the fans to measured airflow across the variable-positioned devices.

  • Publication number: 20130007759
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for maintaining reliability in a computer system. In an example embodiment, the method includes performing a first data computation by a first set of processors, the first set of processors having a first computer processor architecture. The method continues by performing a second data computation by a second processor coupled to the first set of processors, the second processor having a second computer processor architecture, the first computer processor architecture being different than the second computer processor architecture. Finally, the method includes dynamically allocating computational resources of the first set of processors and the second processor based on at least one metric while the first set of processors and the second processor are in operation such that the accuracy and processing speed of the first data computation and the second data computation are optimized.

  • Publication number: 20050071420
Abstract: To provide a more cost effective way to manage the infrastructure while addressing the security needs of a computerized data center, a technique for credential and protocol independent management of infrastructure in a computerized data processing system is provided. More cost effective and secure management is obtained through modified workflows used in the operational management of the computer data processing system. A workflow is first parsed to locate device specific operation requests. Such specifications are then replaced with logical equivalents. The resulting workflow is neutral with respect to both credentials and protocol. Prior to execution, the modified workflow is combined with information retrieved from a resource or by an administrator that further resolves the workflow to a specific target object or plurality of target objects. Security is enhanced through granular administration of user ID and password combinations which may be maintained separate from the workflows in which they are used.

  • Publication number: 20010028270
Abstract: The leakage current on a semiconductor is reduced while the semiconductor is in a sleep mode. This is accomplished by (1) placing the semiconductor in the sleep mode; (2) providing the semiconductor an internal supply voltage derived from an external supply voltage applied to the semiconductor chip (where the internal supply voltage is less in quantity than the external supply voltage); and (3) reducing the internal supply voltage when the semiconductor enters the sleep mode from an activated mode and returning the internal supply voltage to an activated mode level when the semiconductor returns to the activated mode. The reducing step includes supplying the external supply voltage to a reference circuit which outputs therefrom a reference voltage; and supplying the reference voltage to a regulator, where the regulator attempts to match the reference voltage and outputs therefrom the internal supply voltage.

  • Patent number: 5966264
Abstract: Servo pattern bursts are recorded with two frequencies that are detected using heterodyne detection with oscillators at the same frequency as the respective recorded frequencies. The two frequencies are selected to be orthogonal so the sensed servo pattern of one frequency is zero when detected with the detecting circuitry of the other frequency. The servo pattern bursts of the two frequencies are placed close together on the disk so they are sensed simultaneously so that, with orthogonality processing, a PES signal from a three phase pattern is sufficient to provide a robust linear signal, thereby eliminating one of the bursts from a quadrature pattern and reducing the disk surface area needed in each track for the servo pattern by 25% or more.
