  • Patent number: 9026860
Abstract: In a computer storage system, crash dump files are secured without power fencing in a cluster of a plurality of nodes connected to a storage system. Upon an occurrence of a panic of a crashing node and prior to receiving a panic message of the crashing node by a surviving node loading, in the cluster, a capturing node to become active, prior to a totem token being declared lost by the surviving node, for capturing the crash dump files of the crashing node, while manipulating the surviving node to continue to operate under the assumption the power fencing was performed on the crashing node.

Abstract: Systems, methods and articles of manufacture are disclosed for presenting a plurality of objects within a display area on a graphical display device. The size of the display area may be received. A plurality of categories may be generated based on the plurality of objects and the received size. A plurality of labels may be generated for the plurality of categories, the labels describing the objects associated with each category. The plurality of categories may be output for display within the display area. The plurality of categories may also form a hierarchy. Commands may be provided for navigating the hierarchy. A user may conveniently and efficiently view, browse, and select the plurality of objects using the hierarchy and the provided commands.

  • Publication number: 20100235367
Abstract: Classifying electronic mail (e-mail) based on content and predefined categories. Content of a received e-mail may be analyzed to determine one of a plurality of predefined categories into which the e-mail is classified. A relevancy score may also be calculated to indicate the strength of correlation between the e-mail and the category. A user may be allowed to sort e-mails in an e-mail box based on the category names and/or relevancy scores.

  • Patent number: 6865695
Abstract: A computer system of a number of processing nodes operate either in a loop configuration or off of a common bus with high speed, high performance wide bandwidth characteristics. The processing nodes in the system are also interconnected by a separate narrow bandwidth, low frequency recovery bus. When problems arise with node operations on the high speed bus, operations are transferred to the low frequency recovery bus and continue there at a slower rate for recovery operations. The recovery technique may be used to increase system speed and performance on a dynamic basis.

  • Publication number: 20040024982
Abstract: A method for determining the latency for a particular level of memory within a hierarchical memory system is disclosed. A performance monitor counter is allocated to count the number of loads (load counter) and for counting the number of cycles (cycle counter). The method begins with a processor determining which load to select for measurement. In response to the determination, the cycle counter value is stored in a rewind register. The processor issues the load and begins counting cycles. In response to the load completing, the level of memory for the load is determined. If the load was executed from the desired memory level, the load counter is incremented. Otherwise, the cycle counter is rewound to its previous value.

  • Publication number: 20030061145
Abstract: A system and method for providing reservation capabilities to a reservation or property management system via a plurality of Internet web sites. Each booking party is directed to a web site containing common content and content specific to the type of booking party, such as a travel agent, wholesaler, or traveler. The system ensures the complete and accurate collection of data regarding a customer and the customer's reservation request through the use of distributed software components and association with customer profiles. Each booking party may create or modify customer profile information to be associated with reservations. The product or service provider may establish and maintain its own set of commission rates, fee amounts and discount values for each type of booking party, thereby allowing the provider to control accuracy and completeness of reservations, as well as revenue flow to the booking parties.

  • Patent number: 5798285
Abstract: The present method employs a first plating resist for forming circuit lines on a carrier substrate. While the plating resist is still in place a metal, such as nickel, is deposited on top of the circuit lines. A second plating resist is employed for plating solder on the circuit lines at solder sites. At this stage additional solder can be deposited at each solder site to provide or supplement the necessary low melt solder required for forming a solder joint. The first and second resists along with solder thereon are then stripped and copper foil on the carrier substrate is etched away around the circuit lines. A soldermask is then formed on the carrier substrate over the circuit lines except for circuit lines in the chip sites. The soldermask has a single large opening at each chip site which has lateral dimensions which are slightly larger than the lateral dimensions of the chip to be connected at the chip site.

  • Patent number: 5617339
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting degradation in data storage system spindle motor performance is disclosed. A duration of time required for the spindle motor to transition between an initial velocity and a test velocity is determined at or near the time of data storage system manufacture and periodically during the service life of the spindle motor. Deviations between the manufacturing and in-service time durations are computed and, depending on the magnitude of the deviation, invoke particular data storage system responses. The in-service time duration procedure is preferably performed when spindle motor power is removed, typically during a power-down or power-saving sequence.
