Patents Assigned to International Business Machines Corporatoin
  • Patent number: 9342121
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for non interruptive fluid cooling of an electronic enclosure. One or more electronic component packages may be removable from a circuit card having a fluid flow system. When installed, the electronic component packages are coincident to and in a thermal relationship with the fluid flow system. If a particular electronic component package becomes non-functional, it may be removed from the electronic enclosure without affecting either the fluid flow system or other neighboring electronic component packages.

  • Patent number: 8445313
Abstract: A method of forming bit line aligned to a phase change material that includes forming a pedestal of a sacrificial material on a portion of a lower electrode and forming at least one dielectric material adjacent to the sacrificial material, wherein the at least one dielectric material has an upper surface substantially coplanar with an upper surface of the pedestal of the sacrificial material. The pedestal of the sacrificial material is removed selective to the at least one dielectric material and the lower electrode to provide an opening to an exposed surface of the lower electrode. A phase change material is formed on the exposed surface of the lower electrode, and the opening is filled with a conductive fill material. A self-aligned etch back process is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8094122
Abstract: A computer system aids user positioning of a pointing device by providing an animated post warp retro guide in conjunction with an eye tracking system, based on perceived user intent, to assist a user in maintaining continuity for pointer warps. An eye tracking apparatus monitors a user's eye orientation while the user views a video display, detects the eye orientation relative to the video display, and automatically moves the positioning device to the calculated eye orientation of the user, while providing an animated history of the first location of pointing device and a second location of the pointing device. To enable the user to maintain continuity while reading lines of text, a reading guide and visual indicator are also provided. Automated text scrolling and paging is provided to further accommodate a user to maintain continuity while reading large blocks of text.

  • Publication number: 20080134202
Abstract: The present invention provides methods, apparatus and computer programs for event-based control of subscription matching in a publish/subscribe communications environment. Activation and/or deactivation events are associated with subscriptions at a publish/subscribe broker and are used to control when a subscription is active. The broker is responsive to temporally-unpredictable events, such as receipt of a published message on a predefined activation topic, to activate subscription matching for messages that are subsequently received or which have been received earlier and retained at the broker. Conventional subscription matching can be avoided for a registered subscription while that subscription is inactive, and subscribers are not required to explicitly and repeatedly subscribe and unsubscribe.

  • Patent number: 6674603
Abstract: A servo system and method for calibrating servo index positions of a magnetic tape for track following linear servo edges, each servo edge comprising an interface between dissimilar recorded servo signals, the edges on opposite lateral sides of a middle servo signal. A servo loop laterally positions a servo sensor where the servo signals are at estimated ratios representing the locations of the servo edges. An independent position sensor indicates the mechanical lateral position of the servo sensor at the sensed servo edges. The servo loop repositions the servo sensor to a plurality of lateral positions at predetermined displacements from the independent position sensor sensed servo edges, and track follows at each of the predetermined offsets.

  • Patent number: 5838169
Abstract: A logic block comprised of several transistors is provided. The logic block has several inputs and an output for communicating the result of its logic operation. A precharge device having a clock input is connected to the output of the logic block. The precharge device periodically allows the output of the logic block to become valid. This is accomplished by holding the output of the logic block at a fixed voltage level when the clock input is at a first voltage level, and when the clock input changes to a second voltage level, the precharge device allows the result of the logic function performed by the logic block to appear at the output of the logic block. Also, a charge redistribution prevention device is connected to at least one of the transistors included in the logic block. The charge redistribution prevention device prevents charge redistribution by applying a voltage to at least one of the transistors in the logic block.
