  • Patent number: 8246566
Abstract: A system or method controls total fluid loss (TFL) in a patient undergoing hemofiltration therapy administered through an extracorporeal circuit by frequently calculating and storing a retrievable value representing TFL. At session start or restart, the value is read to determine whether TFL is out of tolerance, and if so, fluid balance is restored before administering a prescribed therapy. The TFL value is calculated during therapy by measuring fluid added to the circuit and fluid removed from the circuit, and the result is stored as an updated value. If TFL drifts out of tolerance fluid flow rates may be temporarily changed until a desired fluid balance is restored. The system may include a microprocessor based advanced controller receiving the fluid measurements as feedback for regulating substitution fluid and filtrate flow rates, and updating the TFL, value in non-volatile memory.

  • Patent number: 8246583
Abstract: An anchoring system secures a catheter to the body of a patient and arrests axial movement of the catheter without meaningfully impairing fluid flow through the catheter. The anchoring system includes an anchor pad that adheres to the patient's skin and supports a retainer. The retainer includes interacting structure with a cooperating keeper and latch that releasably moves the retainer between an open and a closed position. When in the open position, the retainer can receive a portion of the catheter and be subsequently moved to the closed position. The retainer further includes one or more retention mechanisms that inhibit axial movement of the catheter relative to the retainer when the catheter is secured therein. In one mode, the retainer includes interacting structure with a keeper and latch. The keeper selectively cooperates with the latch to secure the retainer in a closed position where the cover is generally over to the base.

  • Patent number: 8249978
Abstract: A user can submit an order to buy or sell a tradeable object, only the order does not get sent to the matching engine. Instead, the order is placed in temporary storage and it is displayed to the user in the form of a virtual order icon. The virtual order icon indicates that an order request is waiting for an event to occur before it is automatically released to the matching engine. The virtual icon to a different price level or deleting it. The system continuously monitors for an event to take place. In response to detecting the event, the order is released to the matching engine. As such, the virtual order icon is transformed or removed and a real order icon is displayed indicating that the order has now been sent to the matching engine.

  • Patent number: 8246290
Abstract: A carton feeder assembly is disclosed for selecting or picking carton blanks from the end of a stack of blanks in a magazine. The assembly includes a magazine and conveyor for moving stacks of carton blanks toward a carton feeder assembly. A support shaft assembly is disposed at the downstream end of the magazine and includes a support shaft against which the forwardmost carton blank in the stack leans and rests to support the stack of carton blanks. The support shaft is eccentrically rotatably mounted and driven by a motor so that the support shaft oscillates rapidly as it is rotated. This motion of the support shaft keeps the forwardmost blank of the stack spaced slightly from and out of contact with the support shaft for a significant majority of the time, thus reducing substantially the average friction between the forwardmost blank and the support shaft.
