  • Patent number: 7344994
Abstract: A process for etching semiconductor substrates using a deep reactive ion etching process to produce through holes or slots (hereinafter “slots”) in the substrates. The process includes applying a first layer to a back side of a substrate as a first etch stop material. The first layer is a relatively soft etch stop material. A second layer is applied to the first layer on the back side of the substrate to provide a composite etch stop layer. The second layer is a relatively hard etch stop material. The substrate is etched from a side opposite the back side of the substrate to provide a slot in the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7343823
Abstract: A fluid velocity sensor includes a sensor die for detecting a fluid property of a fluid flowing through a low resistance flow channel defined by a flow channel wall. One or more tap can be oriented facing into a direction of a flow stream of a fluid flowing through a flow channel defined by a channel wall, wherein the tap(s) leads to the low resistance flow channel, which directs the flow to the sensor die. At least one or more other taps can be located to face perpendicular to the direction of flow, such that the fluid after passing over the sensor die continues on a low resistance path to the other tap(s) facing perpendicular to the direction of flow in order to determine a velocity pressure based on a difference between pressures. The fluid velocity sensor can be arranged in a uni-directional or bi-directional fluid flow configuration.

  • Patent number: 7343812
Abstract: A pressure sensor includes a sensing element fabricated on an N-type epitaxial layer grown on a P-type substrate, a P-type isolation region located around the edge of the sensing element die and in contact with the P-type substrate, and a conductive elastomeric seal engaging the P-type isolation region prevents shorting of the conductive elastomeric seal with the N-type epitaxial layer of the sensing element die. A method of making a pressure sensor comprises growing an n-type epitaxy layer on a p-type substrate wafer, resulting in a pressure sensor die and substrate having an edge, obtaining a mask adapted for fabricating an isolation diffusion layer around the edge using P-type material, and creating an isolation layer diffusion using P-type doping material around the edge using the mask. A conductive elastomeric seal can then be placed over the sensor die to make electrical contact to the package.

  • Publication number: 20080066176
Abstract: A method of providing authorization, access rights, is provided wherein authentification/authorization for provision of a service is established between the system intended to provide the service and the user granting/limiting the access rights to the service being provided. Accordingly the request for providing a service by a system is communicated to a converged authentication device, typically a wireless device such as a cellular telephone or PDA, wherein authorization of the request is granted/denied. The converged authentification device thereby allowing authorization of the request to be given only by the owner of the access rights.

  • Publication number: 20080061923
Abstract: Security systems, such as in a home or other building, periodically transmit status data to a remote facility so that the remote facility is continuously informed of the security systems' status. A user interface device at one security system, or a web browser at a personal computer, can obtain information regarding, or provide commands to, one or more other security systems at remote locations by communicating with the remote facility. The remote facility also reports specified events, such as alarms, that occur at a security system to one or more other security systems. Other information, such as video and audio data from a security system, can also be provided to the remote facility for sharing with other security systems. An intercom feature can also be established via the remote facility.

  • Publication number: 20080066155
Abstract: A system and method are provided for device-based, or appliance-based, authentication of a range of media files. The device itself becomes the controlled domain within a known universe, monitored by an access provider much in the way that access and throughput are measured through cell phone usage. The range of allocated files is tracked instead of attempting to track individual files, or the individuals who copy the files themselves. An access provider, such as a Telco, ISP, or Carrier, is used to authenticate ranges of playable files on a particular device, based on allowable fidelities. A partnership structure is also described including all industries involved with content distribution horizontally, between the industries starting from an access provider (Infrastructure), to a content provider (Artist, Producer, Distributor) and finally to a Chip Manufacturer (Device or Appliance).

Abstract: Electromagnetic radiation transformation for power transports is described. In embodiment(s), a power conducting system can include a power transport such as a conduit or power line that conducts power which is a source of electromagnetic radiation. The power conducting system can also include a paramagnetic material in a quantity sufficient to counteract the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the source. In an embodiment, the power transport can be convered by an insulation cover that includes the paramagnetic material. To counteract harmful effects of the electromagnetic radiation, the paramagnetic material can transfrom the electromagnetic radiation, such as to effectuate a frequency transformation and/or to alter an intensity of the electromagnetic radiation.
