Patents Assigned to International Medication Systems Limited
  • Patent number: 5641010
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing liquid with material stored in a container having an opening sealed by a resilient plug includes an adapter having a bore extending through it. The bore is shaped at one end to receive the container plug facing toward the other end of the bore. A first fitting having a passageway extending through it is secured to the adapter at the said other end of the bore. An elongated cannula is sealed at one end to the first fitting passageway so the other end of the cannula penetrates the plug as the container is inserted into the adapter to provide a flow path from the material to the passageway in the first fitting, which is shaped to make a releasable fluidtight seal with a second fitting having a passageway extending through it and adapted to be connected to means for connecting the second fitting passageway to a source of liquid with means for causing the liquid to flow into the container and mix with the material stored in it.

  • Patent number: 5533993
Abstract: A medication injector for use with an inlet port having an imperforate closure for a conduit connected to and extending away from a container for liquid intended for intravenous administration includes a boss which carries a cannula with a scarf at one end spaced from the boss. The cannula scarf is adapted to puncture the inlet port closure. An elongated and generally cylindrical sheath is secured to the boss and extends around the cannula and extends beyond the scarf end of the cannula. An outwardly extending annular flange on the sheath prevents the cannula from being inserted into an injection port of a Y-site of an intravenous administration set, yet permits the cannula to be inserted into the inlet port of the i.v. container.

  • Patent number: 5060812
Abstract: A medication container stopper includes an elastomeric plug which makes a friction fit in an opening of the container. A first cavity in an exterior surface of the plug opens and diverges away from an interior surface of the plug. A second cavity opens qnd diverges away from the exterior surface of the plug. The bottoms of the cavities are spaced apart to define opposite faces of a thin diaphragm formed integrally with the plug. One of the cavities has an elongated groove with a bottom which defines one face of the diaphragm, which is of a thickness that permits the diaphragm to be ruptured by inserting a conventional hypodermic syringe nozzle into the cavity in the exterior surface of the plug.

  • Patent number: 5024616
Abstract: A protective device for a removable cannula used with a hypodermic syringe includes an elongated sheath open at one end. A piston in the sheath is slidable longitudinally between an extended position and a retracted position. The removable cannula is on one side of the piston, and the hypodermic syringe on the outer side. Means are provided for connecting the cannula to the syringe through a bore in the piston so the piston is between the cannula and the syringe barrel. With the piston in the extended position, the cannula extends from one end of the sheath, and the hypodermic syringe plunger extends from the other end so the assembly is ready to use in the same manner as a conventional hypodermic syringe. After use, the piston is moved to the retracted position so that the scarf end of the cannula is safely enclosed within the sheath.

  • Patent number: 4979941
Abstract: The present invention comprises a device suitable for mixing medicaments which comprises two separate containers. The first container is provided with a reservoir section and a neck section such that the cross section of the neck section is less than the cross section of the reservoir. A stopper is snugly fit within the neck section adjacent to the reservoir and a spike and plunger member is snugly fit within the neck section adjacent the stopper on the side opposite the reservoir. The spike and plunger member has a midportion with a hole therein, and a plunger projecting from the midportion adapted to make contact with the stopper. A spike extends from the midportion in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4900310
Abstract: A protective device for enclosing the scarf of a cannula used to draw blood includes an elongated sheath open at one end and having stop means at the other end. A piston is disposed in the sheath to be slidable between an extended position against the stop means and a retracted position away from the stop means. The piston has a bore extending through it in the direction in which the piston slides. Means are provided for securing an elongated, double-ended cannula in the piston bore so the cannula extends longitudinally through the bore with one end of the cannula in the sheath and the other end of the cannula extending outwardly away from the sheath when the piston is in the extended position. Means are provided for sliding the piston away from the stop means to the retracted position to retract the outwardly extending end of the cannula into the sheath.
