  • Patent number: 5392562
Abstract: A universally-adaptable mounting plate for mounting an electrically-operated door opener on a door frame. The mounting plate is substantially rectangular, having a plan portion with longitudinally-directed side edges and transversely-directed end edges. A tab is struck from the plan portion at one end of the mounting plate and is positioned substantially perpendicular to the plan portion and substantially equidistant from and substantially parallel with respect to the side edges. The plan portion is provided with both longitudinally-elongated and transversely-elongated apertures for mounting the door opener thereon, and the tab is provided with an aperture for receiving conventional fastening means for affixing the tab to a door frame or door frame jamb.

  • Patent number: 4917047
Abstract: A modular knock-down animal cage unit and cage assembly, erected from standard modules or modulae which are interchangeable, and which may be readily assembled and disassembled conveniently and economically for washing and storage, with minimum space requirements, and rapidly and conveniently reassembled, is disclosed. The animal cage units or cage assemblies are releasably suspended from and do not come into contact with the frame upon which they are mounted, thereby enabling the supporting frame to be produced from relatively inexpensive material, such as galvanized pipe, even though the cage unit proper is constructed of relatively expensive material such as stainless steel. The cage units and assemblies allow for rapid and convenient clean-out of animal waste material and, since the cage units and cage assemblies are not wall-mounted, room is available for maintaining hygienic conditions both within the cage units themselves and in the surroundings including the flooring on all sides of the cage assembly.

  • Patent number: 4878494
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for effecting cardio-valve replacement surgery. A clamp adapted to be fastened to an ether screen has multiple arms. These arms are linked together by a double clamp having two parts which are pivotable with respect to each other and within which the arms are both rotatable and slidable and which arms are simultaneously clamped in whatever position they may have been set. The clamping is effected by a draw bolt passing through both parts of the double clamp. At the free end of the arms is a clamp adapted to hold a replacement cardio-valve holder. The clamps and the arms are adjusted to present a replacement valve in a position such that it can be sutured into the heart of the patient without the surgeon having concern about the possibility of malalignment of the valve or suturing.

  • Patent number: 4177941
Abstract: There is disclosed a metering device for metering finely divided material which is capable of handling both free-flowing powders and non-free-flowing powders. The device comprises an upright mixing chamber or reservoir having an axially-disposed stirrer therein. Adjacent thereto is a motor-driven shaft having a metering disc attached thereto with a portion extending into the mixing chamber. The motor-driven axial shaft of the metering disc is connected to the axial shaft of the stirrer by a gear train. Each shaft has replaceable gears attached thereto, adapted to mesh with an idler gear. The idler gear is mounted on an adjustable arm so that the position thereof can be changed when one or both of the replaceable gears is replaced by a gear of different size. In one form of the invention, the stirrer comprises radially-disposed arms projecting from the rotatable shaft, each arm of which is angularly displaced with reference to the arm above or below it and is curved away from the direction of rotation.
