Abstract: An electrode comprises an inorganic composite layer of a mixture of at least one insulating inorganic material and at least one at least partially conducting inorganic material. In an application of such an electrode, an organic electroluminescent device comprises a first and second conductor layers. An organic layer is disposed between the first and second conductor layers. The aforementioned composite layer is disposed between the organic layer and the first conductor layer. Methods of fabricating such an electrode and such a device are also described.

Abstract: A ramp wherein the amount of deformation in the front end edges of guiding parts caused by thermal expansion. The ramp includes at least two guiding parts individually formed for each suspension arm and made of a polymeric material having a small friction coefficient for guiding the suspension arm by sliding into a accommodation zone, and a guide supporting member made of a material having a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the polymeric material of the guiding part for supporting each guiding part at a predetermined position. The guide supporting member has guide support holes which are located in zones to be contacted with the associated guiding parts, are not contacted with associated recording disks, and are engaged with the associated guiding parts at such positions that distances to the front end edges of the guiding parts become shortest. Each of the guiding parts has a projection.

Abstract: A gang-punch pin apparatus for punching selected hole patterns in thin sheet materials such as greensheets is provided. The gang-punch pin apparatus uses program plates in the punch apparatus which plates are positioned intermediate the non-punching end of the punch pins and a clearance plate wherein punch pins not used for punching a particular layer of the MLC are retracted into during punching. At the other punch pin locations, the punch pins, upon activation of the punch apparatus by compressing an expandable chamber, usually by application of a force on the punch apparatus, are extended through the lower portion of the punch apparatus to form vias in a greensheet. A die apparatus is also provided for use with the punch assembly to form the vias and to remove the punched material (slugs) from the die apparatus. The gang punch-pin may be shorter than conventional pins and be made at a low cost because of the thin sheet metal plates preferably used to make the component parts of the punch and die apparatus.

Abstract: An apparatus for temporarily attaching an integrated circuit chip to a chip carrier for subsequent electrical testing of the integrated circuit chip is provided consisting of a support carrier and a compression adjusting device to apply a compressive force via the support carrier to the integrated circuit chip to be tested, whereby the support carrier is arranged between the compression adjusting device and the integrated circuit chip to be tested, as well as a method for temporarily attaching an integrated circuit chip to a chip carrier. Furthermore, the support carrier is adapted to function as a transport vehicle for the integrated circuit chip.

Abstract: A hard disk drive contains a disk assembly and a cylindrical disk container. The drive also includes a base around which a peripheral wall extends, a catching chamber including a partition wall partitioning the base into the catching chamber and a disk container, and a top cover functioning as a lid of the base. In addition, the hard disk drive has a first gasket as a first gasket section existing between the top cover and a peripheral wall of the base, and a second gasket as a second gasket section existing between the top cover and the partition wall of the catching chamber.

Abstract: System and Method for establishing wireless connection A system for establishing wireless connection between a peripheral device and an intelligent device in a multi-computer environment having a plurality of intelligent devices is disclosed. The system is in part included within the peripheral device which is preferably a mouse device and also is included within the intelligent device which is preferably a computer system. Specific routines of the system allow a user to work with any of the intelligent devices using only the one mouse device.

Abstract: Provided are methods, apparatus and computer programs for enabling tracking of a user's sequence of Web Browser requests when navigating within a single Web site. Requests for access to resources within the Web site are compared with redirection criteria and, if matching, are redirected to a request tracker which determines a session identifier (generating a new session ID if required), then logs the request and then redirects the request back to the Web server for processing. This method uses a request tracker outside the scope of the Web server program, addressing the inability of many current Web servers to support cookies and avoiding major rewriting of the Web site. The resources within the Web site for which tracking is implemented are renamed on the Web server and the redirected requests are also renamed to be consistent with the renamed resources but to avoid repeated matching with the redirection criteria.

The disk drive insertion tool including: a carrying board having an insertion end, back end, opposing top and bottom surfaces, and sides; a side drive guide extending from the top surface along a portion of the carrying board from proximate the insertion end substantially parallel to each of the sides; an end drive guide extending from the top surface proximate an end of the side drive guides opposite the insertion end defining a disk drive compartment between the drive guides for removably securing a disk drive therein; and the sides forming side rails having a reduced cross-section extending from the insertion end, the side rails having a cross-section sized to slide through drive bay guides formed in a system cage.

Validation rules for analyzing data items in a first format and population rules for converting the data items into a second format are specified. A set of data items in the first format are received by the service provider and analyzed according to the validation rules. The data items are then converted to the second format according to the population rules.

In an example embodiment a spatial information using system comprising a client apparatus carried by a movable body and a central system for providing predetermined information to the client apparatus is provided, wherein: the client apparatus comprises a camera for obtaining image information and a positional information obtaining device for obtaining positional information about the client apparatus from a GPS satellite and sends the obtained image information obtained and positional information to the central system; and the central system extracts additional information about an object contained in the image information based on the image information and the positional information received and sends the additional information to the client apparatus.

Abstract: A hard disk drive apparatus is capable of reducing a noise effectively during operation and capable of enhancing the reliability of the drive. The hard disk drive has first and second ribs that are formed near a pivot for an actuator so that a tilt of the pivot is prevented when the actuator is operated. Also, vibration absorbing members are interposed between the first and second ribs on the side of a base and a cover so that the vibration absorbing members are brought into contact with the cover. These vibration absorbing members are located in an intermediate portion between fixing places for fixing the cover to the base and a fixing place for fixing the cover to the pivot.

Abstract: The invention allows a system to prevent robots from browsing a Web site beyond a welcome page. When an initial request from an undefined originator is received Web site responds to it with a welcome page including at least one trap. Then, on receiving further requests from the undefined originator Web site can check whether a trap is used or not. If not used the undefined originator is assumed to be a human being and is authorized to go on. If a trap is however used the undefined originator is assumed to be a robot in which case site access is further denied. The invention prevents Web site contents from being investigated by robots while not requiring users to have to log on.

Abstract: A system and method for workflow control of contractual activities executed pursuant to a contract. The contract may refer to a Business Rules Book containing a set of rules from which specific rules may be selected for inclusion in the contract, a Terms and Conditions Set representing a unique set of instances of rules selected from the Business Rules Book, and a Product List Filter specific to each seller or buyer, targeting products in which there is a mutual interest. The Business Rules Book, Terms and Conditions and Product List Filter are linked in a contract profile, to create a contract representing the agreement between the seller and the buyer. Subsequent contractual activities under the contract are executed through the contract, which controls the contracting parties' processes workflow at one or more contracting organization or amongst contracting organizations.

Abstract: An integrated circuit device structure having probe pad extensions in electrical communication with the wire bond pads and a method for performing failure analysis thereon. The invention provides an improved probing system for wire bond packages such that neither the wire nor the wire bond from the pads on the chip surface need be removed during testing procedures. Included in the integrated circuit device is a plurality of conductive pads having a first area for receiving a wire bond and a second area for receiving a probe, wherein the second area abuts, and is an electrical communication with the first area.

Abstract: An electronic package, and method of making the electronic package, is provided. The package includes a semiconductor chip and an multi-layered interconnect structure having a high density interconnect layer such as an allylated surface layer. The semiconductor chip includes a plurality of contact members on one of its surfaces that are connected to the multi-layered interconnect structure by a plurality of solder connections. The multi-layered interconnect structure is adapted for electrically interconnecting the semiconductor chip to a circuitized substrate (eg., circuit board) with another plurality of solder connections and includes a thermally conductive layer being comprised of a material having a selected thickness and coefficient of thermal expansion to substantially prevent failure of the solder connections between said first plurality of electrically conductive members and the semiconductor chip.

Abstract: Huffman encoding, particularly from a packed data format, is simplified by using two different table formats depending on code length. Huffman tables are also reduced in size thereby. Decoding is performed in reduced time by testing for the length of valid Huffman codes in a compressed data stream and using an offset corresponding to a test criterion yielding a particular test result to provide a direct index into Huffman table symbol values while greatly reducing the size of look-up tables used for such a purpose.

Abstract: A chip scale package with outer dimensions for high of semiconductor chips to facilitate handling, testing, and later attachment of the package to further electrical circuitry. The chip scale package has four main components: semiconductor chip, a lead frame, a connection between the semiconductor chip and the lead frame, and an encapsulation sealing the semiconductor chip from the surrounding atmosphere. The semiconductor chip has a body, an active surface, and the dimensions that are between about 70% and 80% of the outer dimensions of the chip scale package. The lead frame has an intermediate path directly in line with, and perpendicular to, the surface of the semiconductor chip, thereby minimizing parasitic inductance and capacitance, and a thermal or ground slug.

Abstract: A computer system, program product and method utilize an input region defined for a hypertext link that is capable of receiving user input for the hypertext link outside of a display region thereof to perform a predetermined operation with the hypertext link. At least a portion of the input region is disposed outside of the display region of the hypertext link, thereby expanding the hot spot. As a result, when a user performs a specific action while a pointer is disposed within the input region of the hypertext link, the predetermined operation (e.g., activating the hypertext link) is performed. In addition, conflicts between multiple user interface controls (e.g., hypertext links) disposed proximate one another may be resolved by defining a secondary operation for a second user interface control that may be activated in response to user input that occurs when a pointer is disposed within an input region defined for a first user interface control.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method, system, and program for performing a join operation on a multi-column table and at least two satellite tables having a join condition. Each satellite table is comprised of multiple rows and at least one join column. The multi-column table is comprised of multiple rows and at least one column corresponding to the join column in each satellite table. A join operation is performed on the rows of the satellite tables to generate concatenated rows of the satellite tables. One of the concatenated rows is joined to the multi-column table and a returned entry from the multi-column table is received. A determination is then made as to whether the returned entry matches the search criteria. If so, a determination is made as to whether one of the satellite tables has duplicates of values in the join column of the returned matching entry or the multi-column table has duplicate entries in the join columns.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying information on a display device of limited display area. More specifically, an array of elements is formed on the display where each of the elements represents an attribute and has graphical information indicating the state of the attribute. Further, the position of each element in the array represents its position in a collection of attributes. Each element is also user selectable, so that when the element is selected, further information on the attribute is displayed.
