Patent number: 5356368Abstract: Improved methods and apparatus for entraining human brain patterns, employing frequency following response (FFR) techniques, facilitate attainment of desired states of consciousness. In one embodiment, a plurality of electroencephalogram (EEG) waveforms, characteristic of a given state of consciousness, are combined to yield an EEG waveform to which subjects may be susceptible more readily. In another embodiment, sleep patterns are reproduced based on observed brain patterns during portions of a sleep cycle; entrainment principles are applied to induce sleep. In yet another embodiment, entrainment principles are applied in the work environment, to induce and maintain a desired level of consciousness. A portable device also is described.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1991Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Interstate Industries Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Monroe

Patent number: 5213562Abstract: A method having applicability in replication of desired consciousness states; in the training of an individual to replicate such a state of consciousness without further audio stimulation; and in the transferring of such states from one human being to another through the imposition of one individual's EEG, superimposed on desired stereo signals, on another individual, by inducement of a binaural beat phenomenon.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1990Date of Patent: May 25, 1993Assignee: Interstate Industries Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 4256931Abstract: A switching control button structure is provided for selectively actuating a plurality of resilient dome momentary contact switches. The momentary contact switches are mounted on a support surface and arranged generally about the circumference of a circle. A pivot pin extends from the center of the circle and supports a key adapted to tilt about the pivot pin. The key has wings extending over the switches and is normally upwardly biased by the switches to a neutral, non-switching position so that a switch can be selectively actuated by applying force to the key anywhere along a line extending from the center of the key through a point generally over the switch. The key has a central circular serrated region by which rapid and successive actuation of the switches can be achieved by applying forces on the serrated region in the direction of the selected switches.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1979Date of Patent: March 17, 1981Assignee: Interstate Industries, Inc.Inventor: William F. Palisek

Patent number: 4021973Abstract: A partition system comprising a fixed standard and upstanding acoustical panels, with brackets affixed to the standard for securement of the panels thereto and for support of shelves and desk tops adjacent the panels. Connecting hardware securing panels to the brackets and standard is hidden from view. Panel faces are covered with fabric sheets, and panel frames are formed with outwardly directed channels accommodating splines wedging perimetric edge portions of the fabric sheets therewithin.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1976Date of Patent: May 10, 1977Assignee: Interstate Industries, Inc.Inventors: Thomas R. Patent number: 3965844Abstract: An apparatus for pivotally mounting an outboard fishing motor, such as a shaft-mounted submersible electric motor, on the bow of a fishing boat or the like for pivotal movement between an operative position wherein the motor is held in the water and a non-operative raised position. The apparatus comprises a pivotally mounted bracket for supporting the shaft of the motor, and a power control system including a reversible electric motor and cable arrangement for automatically and positively pivoting the fishing motor in either direction between its operative and non-operative positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1975Date of Patent: June 29, 1976Assignee: Interstate Industries, Inc.Inventors: John O. Brock, Marmion Dean Davis, James Robert Wray

Patent number: 3948204Abstract: An apparatus for pivotally mounting an outboard fishing motor, such as a shaft-mounted submersible electric motor, on the bow of a fishing boat or the like for pivotal movement between an operative position wherein the motor is held in the water and a non-operative raised position. The apparatus comprises an elongated mounting frame, a slide block carried by the mounting frame, and a bracket pivotally carried by the slide block for supporting the shaft of the motor. A power control system is provided which includes a reversible electric motor and cable arrangement for selectively translating the slide block in either direction, and a pivoting and lifting arrangement is included which serves to lift the outboard motor into its raised position overlying the mounting frame.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1975Date of Patent: April 6, 1976Assignee: Interstate Industries, Inc.Inventors: John O. Brock, Marmion Dean Davis, James Robert Wray
