  • Patent number: 6344250
Abstract: A polyolefin shrink film having high shrinkage and low shrink force. The film has a core layer formed from a polymer of ethylene with a melting point of greater than 100° C., outer layers of a homopolymer of ethylene or propylene or an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer. The film is not irradiated. The film may be used in the packaging of articles subject to breakage, distortion or deformation if packaged in shrink films with higher shrink force.

  • Patent number: 6189587
Abstract: A multi-roll automatic tape splicing device includes a platen which is rotatably mounted on a support frame via a shaft. Two or more tape mandrels are rotatably disposed on the platen at a substantially equal distance from the shaft, and substantially equally spaced from each other, each mandrel being capable of receiving a respective roll of tape. An index drive is operatively coupled to the platen, for selectively rotating the platen so as to successively move each mandrel into a predetermined operating position at which a web of tape can be drawn from a respective roll of tape disposed on the mandrel, and for moving a mandrel out of the operating position when the respective roll of tape is depleted. A first sensor is operatively mounted on the support frame and capable of detecting a depleted condition of a roll of tape mounted on a respective mandrel in the operating position.

  • Patent number: 6062732
Abstract: A flexible intermediate bulk container having a filling spout extending outwards from one end and a discharge spout extending from the opposed end. A layer of an air-permeable diaphragm and a layer of sheet internal thereto are located at the one end, the opposed end or in wall of container. The diaphragm and sheet are adapted to have a tube therein in fluid communication into the container, through which a vacuum or air pressure may be applied to facilitate filling or discharge of contents.

  • Patent number: 5994242
Abstract: A coated woven material comprising a layer of a woven scrim formed from a thermoplastic polymer in the form of at least one of fibres, filaments and tapes; and a coating on at least one side of said layer of an elastomeric polymer of ethylene and at least one hydrocarbon alpha-olefin comonomer of at least 4 carbon atoms. The elastomeric polymer has a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of less than -20.degree. C. and a brittleness temperature of less than -80.degree. C. The material is particularly useful as a transportation cover.

  • Patent number: 5676792
Abstract: A splicing device includes a bracket for mounting on a sealing machine frame, a shaft rotatably mounted on the bracket, the bracket carrying a spindle on each end thereof for a roll of tape, a first handle and brake on one end of the shaft for releasably locking the arm in one position, and a second handle on the other end of the shaft for rotating the shaft and arm, a wiper roller and a separation roller mounted on the frame. A first roll of tape is dispensed from one spindle to a taping head, and a second, fresh roll of tape is on the other spindle. When the first roll of tape is almost completely dispensed, the brake is released and the arm rotated to contact the second roll of tape with the adhesive surface of the first roll.
