Abstract: The invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) which is electrically connected to an anode and a source. According to the invention one of the anode and the source is thermally coupled to a first heat conductor, the heat conductor being thermally coupled to a first Peltier element to convert thermal energy transmitted from and generated in the light emitting crystal when the light emitting crystal is provided with electrical energy into electrical energy.

Abstract: A liquid scintillation spectrometer comprises two PM detectors, a circuit for detecting prompt coincidences between the signals from the detectors and a circuit for detecting delayed coincidences. Counting means controlled by the coincidence circuits detect the excess of the occurrences of prompt coincidences over delayed coincidences and count that excess in real time.

Abstract: A method of liquid scintillation counting utilizing a combustion step to overcome quenching effects comprises novel features of automatic sequential introduction of samples into a combustion zone and automatic sequential collection and delivery of combustion products into a counting zone.
Abstract: A sample radioactivity measuring system has a conveyor for moving a plurality of sample receiving locations in succession to a working position. A device for selecting the measuring program to be executed on the samples comprises a plurality of marker plugs each adapted to be removably located in the conveyor for movement by the conveyor. Each marker is provided with a different address code. Each address code corresponds to a location in a card reader. Cards insertable into the addressed locations each carry one of the programs and the program read from the card at the addressed location is used for processing the associated samples.
Abstract: A sample conveyor for a liquid scintillation spectrometer or gamma counting system comprises a plurality of cassette carriers and a mechanism for moving the carriers step by step along a closed path which includes a transfer station. Each carrier has an open bottom and may receive a cassette whose bottom wall consists of lips which may be opened by a mechanism when the corresponding location is at the transfer station.
Abstract: A device for measuring and dispensing fractions of a liquid sample comprises a casing having a vertical axis and containing a central chamber and transparent cells distributed around the chamber. Each cell is connected to the chamber by a closure cup. A capillary constriction separates each pocket from the corresponding cell. The device may be used for the preparation of antibiograms.
