    Abstract: A head restraint guide system is provided to reduce or eliminate contact points between an armature of a head restraint and a housing in a vehicle seat assembly. The housing extends through a seat back frame. In a first embodiment, a retainer is secured to the housing and a washer is seated within the retainer. A retaining cap closes and maintains the washer within the retainer. The armature extends through the guide system contacting only the washer, thus eliminating vibrations and noise due to contact between the armature and the attachment tube. The washer comprises a non-rigid material, preferably felt. In a second embodiment, an elongated sleeve comprising a non-rigid material, preferably felt, is seated within the housing. The sleeve receives and surrounds the armature to eliminate contact points between the armature and the housing, thereby eliminating vibrations and noise therebetween.

    Abstract: A vehicle body stiffener comprises an assembly of an outer member and an inner stiffener member which are joined to form a closure for the body. The inner stiffener member is formed to carry tension, compressive and torsional loads from the vehicle body and two locating pins at the corners of one side of the assembly and two latch pins at the corners of the opposite side of the assembly engage complementary receptacles on the vehicle body to make the assembly act as a structural member of the body to transfer forces from the body to the assembly. The assembly is preferably pivotally connected to the vehicle body by a pair of hinges which allow the assembly to be opened to gain access to the vehicle body interior. The assembly can be an engine compartment hood, a trunk lid or other closure.

A worm is operatively coupled to the motor for driving rotation of the worm about an axis in a first rotational direction. A camshaft is mounted on the worm gear and has a rotation axis coincident with the gear axis. An output arm is affixed to the distal end of the camshaft for engaging the lever of a latch. A rod is connected at a first end to a spaced side member and at a second end to the front leg. The seat cushion is automatically laterally displaced relative to the front legs in response to pivotal movement of the seat cushion relative to the front legs due to changes in the effective length of the rod.

The movable rail extends along a length between a forward position and a rearward position. A shunt defining an elongated body extends along a portion of the length of the movable rail. A sensor is fixedly secured to the stationary rail and disposed adjacent the shunt to produce a position signal indicating a position of the sensor relative to the shunt. The sensor and the shunt are disposed within the stationary and movable rails to be protected thereby.

    Abstract: A grab handle and bezel assembly includes a bezel and a grab handle capable of being received within the bezel. The grab handle is generally non-circular in cross section for properly locating the grab handle within the bezel and for preventing rotation of the grab handle. For example, the grab handle can be D-shaped in cross section having an arcuate surface portion defining a Class “A” surface that is visible to an occupant, and a flat surface portion defining a Class “B” surface that is not visible to the occupant. In this manner, an amount of Class “A” surface treatment of the grab handle can be minimized, thereby reducing the cost of the grab handle and bezel assembly. The grab handle and bezel assembly can securely mounted to a trim component, such as a door bolster, by disposing opposite ends of the grab handle between opposing walls of the bezel and passing a fastener through the door bolster, the bezel and the grab handle.

    Abstract: A power actuator for automotive door latches. The actuator includes an electric motor mounted in a housing. The power actuator uses a reduced number of components.

The cams are rotatable assembled to the mobile flange for moving in and out of engagement with the bearing surface. The cams are biased into engagement with the bearing surface. A handle body (60) journaled to the cylinder includes a plurality of teeth engagable with teeth on the mobile flange. Tabs (62) extend from the handle body to move the cams out of engagement with the bearing surface during rotation of the handle body relative to the mobile flange.

    Abstract: A vehicle latch has a housing with a detent and a stop. A lever is pivotally connected to the housing and movable from an install position engaging the housing to an active position pivoted away from the housing. A spring extends from the lever to the housing applying a biasing force to the lever urging the lever to the install position. The spring has a tail portion, a coil section and an opposite end. The opposite end engages the lever. The tail end is moveable to engage either the stop or detent. In the install position, the tail end engages the detent and also engages the lever. In this position, the spring increases the biasing force holding the lever in the install position. The tail end is removable from the detent to engage the stop when the lever is first pivoted away from the install position. This disengages the tail end from the lever and also reduces the biasing force on the lever.

    Abstract: A vehicle latch has a housing and a ratchet pivotally mounted to the housing. The ratchet is operable to move between an unlatched position, a secondary latched position, and a primary latched position. A release lever is pivotally mounted to the housing and operatively connects to the ratchet for unlatching the ratchet from either of the secondary or primary latched positions. The operative connection has a guide pin. A cinching lever has a cam surface that slidingly engages the guide pin. The cam surface defines a predetermined path of travel as the cinching lever is drivingly reciprocated in a cinching cycle. The predetermined path enables the cinching lever to be initially out of the path of travel of the ratchet, to engage the ratchet when the ratchet is in the secondary position and drivingly rotating the ratchet to the primary latched position, and thereafter move out of the path of travel of the ratchet.

The mobile plate includes an annular rim having a plurality of teeth. A pawl is slidably supported between the fixed and mobile plates for movement in and out of locking engagement with the plurality of teeth. A cam is fixedly secured to a shaft rotatably journaled through an aperture formed in the mobile plate. The aperture is oversized relative to the shaft to allow the shaft and the cam to float radially relative to the pawl to help prevent binding of the pawl during movement in and out of locking engagement with the plurality of teeth.
