  • Patent number: 5529729
Abstract: A process for producing an inner refractory lining of a ladle or metallurgical vessel for casting steel. The inner refractory lining incorporates wall passages with conical nozzle bricks and/or bubble bricks. The inner lining is produced by using a thixotropic vibrational lining mass. Templates are employed to maintain openings for the wall passages during production of the inner lining. After the inner lining is produced, the templates are removed from the inner lining. Once the templates are removed from the inner lining, the conical nozzle bricks and/or the bubble bricks are inserted into the openings. Each of the bricks is mortared into an opening without using seating blocks. The bricks are mortared into the openings so that the bricks remain free from contact with the inner lining.

  • Patent number: 5330690
Abstract: A process for renewing the refractory lining of a ladle for casting steel and of similar metallurgical vessels. While the ladle (10) is still hot, the slag (S) still adhering to the inner surface (26) is melted off from the remaining lining (2) with the aid of a high-temperature burner (9) operating under reducing conditions and allowed to run out of the ladle (10) in the molten condition. After cooling, the glassy surface of the remaining lining (2) is roughened. The new refractory lining (30) is then applied by casting, with the aid of a template.

  • Patent number: 5311921
Abstract: A pulverulent casting auxiliary (6) is removed from a supply tank (1) in the fluidized state and conveyed through a screw conveyor (10) via a continuous-casting mold (12). At the end of the screw conveyor (10) a return line (30) is provided via which the quantity of casting auxiliary (6) not removed at the removal points (19) disposed over the bath surface (18) is returned into the supply tank (1) in a circulating manner.

  • Patent number: 4923180
Abstract: A process and an apparatus, by means of which the used surface of the lining of a steel ladle can be worked away, following the contours, in uniform layer thickness. On compliantly displaceable arms, tools are pressed against the inner circumference of the lining which exert a hammering pact against the surface layer of the lining under the effect of a vibrator. Then a mold is lowered into the ladle and the space remaining between the mold and the worked-away inner surface is filled with a pourable, refractory material, which bonds with the old lining to form a new monolithic lining.
