Abstract: A system and method provide for installation and setup of a set-top box (STB) in a Digital TV network includes a mobile device running a mobile application, an operator application, and a display configured to display video from the STB. A status of the STB is determined and encoded into an optically scannable graphic displayed by the display. The optically scannable graphic is scanned with an optical device in communication with the mobile device and the status of the STB is decoded. The status of the STB is transmitted to the operator application compared with an acceptance criteria.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a communication network having one or more cable modems. Operating the communication network may include displaying one or more messages to a subscriber and making temporary changes to Cable Modem Termination Systems in order to modify the availability of network resources for one or more cable modems assigned to a subscriber without requiring a rebooting of the one or more cable modems.

Abstract: A computer-based method (and associated system) for managing services provided by a service provider includes receiving a service order at a computer-based workflow engine, sending a generic ready-to-activate service order to a provisioning engine if network element involvement is needed to perform a step involved in satisfying the service order, assembling a command at the provisioning engine, in a format that is specific to the network element, to perform the step, and sending the network element-specific command from the provisioning engine to the network element.

Abstract: A method for updating firmware of cable modems optimizing management resources in a network comprising a web application, network collector, more than one cable modem, one or more servers. The method includes the web application receiving an update firmware policy, the policy defined by a list of cable modems to have their firmware updated, a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) pointing to a file within a server in the network, and the web application adding a policy with this information to a policies table. The network collector polls a database engine for a new policy and computing a list of cable modems to have their firmware updated, and the network collector sends a command to a cable modem to update to a new firmware, wherein the new firmware is specified by the URI.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting and diagnosing leaks and interferences in a cable network by detecting interferences through radio receivers and correlating with data extracted from the network elements. Interferences in a cable network are detected with a kit comprising an antenna, a radio receiver, a computer device, a global positioning system (GPS), and an application. The method includes moving the radio receiver within an area of coverage; receiving and recording a radio frequency (RF) measurement; detecting an interference point based on a signal level of the RF measurement; determining, with the GPS, a location of the interference point; and reporting the location of the interference point, as it is detected, to the application.
