Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that processes data. During operation, the system obtains text from a document associated with a user. Next, the system applies a set of rules to each word in the text to determine a context associated with the word. The system then extracts data associated with the context from the text. Finally, the system enables use of the data with one or more applications without requiring manual input of the data into the one or more applications.

Abstract: A trigger event monitoring system is provided in one or more virtual assets. One or more trigger parameters, including security threat patterns, are defined and trigger data is generated. The one or more trigger monitoring systems are used to monitor extrusion and intrusion capabilities and self-monitored trigger events that may harm or otherwise leave a virtual asset in a vulnerable state. In one embodiment, trigger events and monitoring of at least a portion of message traffic sent to, or sent from, the one or more virtual assets are initiated and/or performed to detect any message including one or more of the one or more of the trigger parameters. Any message meeting the one or more trigger parameters is identified as a potential security threat and is assigned a threat score, which is provided to the virtual asset. Various corrective actions may take place.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, articles of manufacture and computerized systems for identifying or alerting a user of certain data in electronic tax returns. A computerized tax return preparation system including a tax return preparation software application executed by a computing device receives electronic tax return data and populates a field of the electronic tax return. The system executes a constraint engine that compares the electronic tax return data with a constraint of a tax authority requirement expressed in a declarative format. An alert is generated for the user of the tax return preparation software application when the electronic tax data does not satisfy the declarative constraint.

Abstract: A method and system provides improved routing efficiency for users of a data management system. The data management system includes a plurality of global traffic managers, local traffic managers, and data centers that store user data. Each data center is related to a respective global traffic manager and a respective local traffic manager. When a user submits a request to access data stored in one of the data centers, the data management system identifies a primary data center from which the user will access the user data and routes the user request data to the global traffic manager related to the primary data center.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for facilitating optical character recognition (OCR) by identifying one or more regions in an electronic document to perform the OCR. For example a method for identifying information in an electronic document includes obtaining a set of training documents for each template of a plurality of templates for the electronic document, extracting spatial attributes for at least a first label region and at least a first corresponding value region from the set, and training a classifier model based on the extracted spatial attributes, wherein the classifier model is used to identify the information in the electronic document. The spatial attributes represent a position of at least the first label region and at least the first value region within the electronic document.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to electronic devices with optical head-mounted displays (OHMDs). Each electronic device includes an OHMD that provides a heads-up display (HUD) and one or more sensors. The electronic device also includes a pairing apparatus that uses the OHMD to generate a first signal that is detectable by the other electronic device. The pairing apparatus also uses the OHMD to detect a second signal from a second OHMD at the other electronic device. Next, the pairing apparatus generates a shared secret with the second electronic device using data associated with the first and second signals and uses the shared secret to establish a secure connection with the second electronic device.

Abstract: A method and system provides disaster recovery services in an expandable environment of virtual computing resources, according to one embodiment. The method and system provide a financial service with a primary financial service system, according to one embodiment. The method and system operate, on virtual computing resources in a second computing environment, a disaster recovery system for the primary financial service system, and the second computing environment is a virtual computing resources service provider computing environment that provides requested quantities of virtual computing resources for use by the disaster recovery system, in exchange for payment, according to one embodiment.

Abstract: A system and method allows users to provide portions of scripts or scripts for retrieval of information from one or more web sites of one or more businesses by demonstrating operation of the one or more web sites and identifying locations of one or more fields on each web page of the one or more web sites, and the system and method stores the scripts and uses the scripts to retrieve information from such web site or web sites for any number of users. Different portions of different scripts may be used as a single script to retrieve information from a single web site. Scripts or portions of scripts may be repaired using information from previously working scripts or portions, the web site when the script or portion worked, and the web site when the script or portion did not work.

Abstract: A method for systems integration to create an end-to-end view includes obtaining a status of an invoice from an accounting data repository, generating a visualization for the invoice showing the status, and obtaining, from a payment system and based on the status indicating a payment on the invoice, monetary transaction records that match the invoice. The method further includes aggregating the monetary transaction records to update the status of the invoice after the status indicates the payment on the invoice, and updating the visualization with the status of the invoice to show the end-to-end view of the invoice.

Abstract: A method and system provides augmented OCR data to a user of a financial system. The method and system include receiving image data related to an image of a financial document of the user and generating OCR data based on the image data. The method and system further include receiving financial data related to the financial document, analyzing the financial document, and generating the augmented OCR data based on the OCR data and the financial data.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems and articles of manufacture for assessing trustworthiness of electronic tax return data. Systems may include modular components including a confidence module that determines at least one attribute of a source of the electronic tax return data, determines a confidence score for the electronic tax return data based at least in part upon at least one source attribute, compares the confidence score and pre-determined criteria, and generates an output indicating whether the confidence score for the electronic tax return data satisfies the pre-determined criteria. When the confidence score does not satisfy the pre-determined criteria, the user can be presented with an alert or message. Confidence scores can be generated and may also be displayed for specific electronic tax return data or fields, a tax form or worksheet, an interview screen, a tax topic, or the tax return as a whole, e.g., for purposes of determining audit risk.

Abstract: A method and system include identifying a virtual asset creation template associated with virtual assets to be verified. A test virtual asset is generated using the virtual asset creation template and deployed in a testing environment. The test virtual asset is then analyzed in the testing environment to identify any vulnerabilities. If a vulnerability is identified in the designated test virtual asset, a remedy to the vulnerability is applied to the virtual asset creation template which is used to create a virtual asset in a production environment. The method and system further include monitoring the production environment virtual asset for potential security threats, with a virtual asset agent, and determining a severity of identified security threats. and potentially creating a new virtual asset with the virtual asset agent and decommissioning the current virtual asset as a result.

Abstract: A method and system for obtaining payment from a customer that includes receiving a collection request at a payment facilitation device from a payment collection request device of a merchant, storing the collection request in a collection request repository, determining, using the collection request, a location of the customer, and determining, using the location of the customer, that an in-person payment device of a collecting entity is located near the location of the customer. The method also includes transmitting a notice of collection request to the in-person payment device and receiving a payment request from the in-person payment device at which the customer made a payment via the in-person payment device after the notice of collection request was received by the in-person payment device. Additionally, the method includes transmitting, based on the payment request, a payment to a merchant account associated with the merchant.

Abstract: Systems of the present disclosure allow fields and labels to be identified in a digital image of a form without performing OCR. A digital image of a form can be partitioned into image segments using computer-vision image-segmentation techniques. Features for each image segment can be extracted using computer-vision feature-detection methods. The features extracted from an image segment can be included in an input instance for a machine-learning model. The machine-learning model can assign a classification to the input instance. The classification can associate the input instance with a field type or a label type.

Abstract: A method for correcting a payroll error in a payroll of an employee includes calculating a value range of a payroll component based on the payroll of the employee for a pre-determined number of prior payroll periods, comparing a current value of the payroll component for a current payroll period and the value range to generate a difference, identifying an irregularity parameter associated with the payroll component in response to the difference exceeding a pre-determined threshold, wherein the irregularity parameter relates to a pre-determined mechanism capable of causing the payroll error, analyzing the difference using a pre-determined rule based on the irregularity parameter to determine whether the payroll error exists, and in response to determining that the payroll error exists, and correcting the payroll error prior to releasing the payroll for the current payroll period.

Abstract: Automatically mapping and importing accounting application data into to a tax preparation application. Account data including an account name is received from an accounting application. A tax category corresponding to the account name is determined automatically, and a tax line assignment or line of a form of the tax preparation application is automatically assigned to the account name such that the corresponding account data can be mapped to and imported into the appropriate section of a tax return. For this purpose, a table or spreadsheet of search terms may be used to correlate an account name selected by a user to a tax category, which is used to determine the appropriate tax line assignment or line of a tax form for that particular account.
