Patent number: 4320066Abstract: A process for the production of cobaltocen comprising reacting at least one cobalt alcoholate with cyclopentadiene in the presence of at least one alkaline catalyst is disclosed. The reaction product may be purified by various combinations of distillation, solution and filtration, and crystallization. Cobaltocen is a known compound useful as a catalyst and activator in various reactions.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1980Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung ZurichInventor: Guiseppe Bertossa

Patent number: 4268661Abstract: Polyamides are described which are useful for injection molding and which are produced by the polycondensation of (a) a diaminodicyclohexane or a diaminodicyclohexylalkane, (b) a polyamide-forming aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and (c) an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid-diamine mixture or salt thereof.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1980Date of Patent: May 19, 1981Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventors: Eduard Schmid, Wolfgang Griehl

Patent number: 4256837Abstract: An apparatus and method for the recovery of gas evolved from fermentation is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a vessel containing the fermentation material, and a head slidably mounted on the vessel forming a substantially gas tight chamber therewith. Mounted on the head are a series of projections of various shapes which extend into the chamber. As the fermentation proceeds, the generation of gas causes the head to rise. When it has risen a sufficient amount, a gas outlet valve is opened and the gas is introduced into a collector. The reduction in gas pressure causes the head to drop. The movement of the head causes the projections to break through the scum layer at the surface of the fermentation broth, thereby enhancing the reaction. In a preferred form of the device, the projections are so formed as to urge the scum towards the discharge means, thereby breaking and removing the scum without the use of any additional energy. A method for using the apparatus is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1979Date of Patent: March 17, 1981Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventors: Peter Fluri, Richard Voser, Peter Wettstein

Patent number: 4232145Abstract: Polyamides are described which are useful for injection molding and which are produced by the polycondensation of (a) a diaminodicyclohexane or a diaminodicyclohexylalkane, (b) a polyamide-forming aromatic dicarboxylic acid of more than 9 carbon atoms, and (c) an .omega.-amino-acid, a lactam of more than 9 carbon atoms, or an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid-diamine mixture or salt thereof.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1978Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventors: Eduard Schmid, Wolfgang Griehl

Patent number: 4225699Abstract: Filaments of a copolyamide which is derived from at least three polyamide-forming, unbranched, saturated, randomly distributed monomer components, having an average amide group frequency of one --CONH-- to 6.4 to 7.4 --CH.sub.2 -- and in which each of said monomer components is present in an amount of 10 to 60 mol %, based on the number of moles of all said components, and the sum of the mole % amounts of all monomer components is 100, said copolyamide having a melting point of less than 155.degree. C. A method of making such filaments is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1978Date of Patent: September 30, 1980Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventors: Eduard Schmid, Wolfgang Griehl

Patent number: 4145521Abstract: A method for the continous transfer of pourable solids such as granular solids by means of a liquid of lesser density is disclosed. The solid is mixed with and carried by the liquid through an inlet and a rotary zone. The rate of flow of the solids into the rotary zone is controlled by the selective withdrawal of liquid from the rotary zone. The rotary zone comprises rotating volumes that carry the solids and liquid to an outlet in the rotary zone. An additional liquid is injected adjacent the outlet so that the solids are emptied from the volumes into the outlet. An apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1977Date of Patent: March 20, 1979Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventor: Werner Suhner

Patent number: 3973471Abstract: Hydraulic and pneumatic motors having expansion chambers arranged between two supporting means, at least one of which is rotatable, said chambers formed at least in part of material that is elastically deformable by the pressure medium used, are provided. The invention also provides a control system for introducing the pressure medium into the chambers sequentially and expelling it sequentially after each chamber has attained maximum volume.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1975Date of Patent: August 10, 1976Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung ZurichInventor: Georg Hirmann

Patent number: 3959215Abstract: The invention relates to a process for reducing degradation in the spinning of fiber-forming polyesters by adding to the polyester granules before spinning compounds of the general formula ##SPC1##In which hydrogen atoms may be replaced by alkyl or aryl radicals. These compounds react with the carboxyl end groups of the polyester, whereby in addition to the lesser degradation, a reduction of the number of free carboxyl end groups in the fiber is also obtained.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1974Date of Patent: May 25, 1976Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventor: Ewald Schneider

Patent number: 3954946Abstract: Method and apparatus for reacting nitric oxide with H.sub.2 in the presence of noble metal catalysts in which waste gas is obtained by separating the gas contained in a liquid medium flowing countercurrently to the bubbles in a counter-current bubble column. Preferably, only a portion of the separated gas is removed as waste gas, the remainder being recycled. The apparatus comprises a counter-current bubble column having a gas recycling circuit to permit the recycling of excess NO contained in the separated gas.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1974Date of Patent: May 4, 1976Assignee: Inventa AG fur Forschung und Patentverwertung, ZurichInventors: Werner Graf, Johann Karl Forrer
