Abstract: An apparatus for making coffee, in accordance with an automated pour-over method, includes a housing having a movable water spout, a basket for holding a bed of coffee grounds below the spout, a pump for moving water through the spout for delivery and distribution onto the bed, and a drive for moving the spout along a hypotrochoidal path during distribution of the water to saturate the bed with substantially uniform water coverage and to extract the coffee with substantial consistency as the water permeates and passes by gravity through the bed.
