    Abstract: A mode shifter connects via an input port to an antenna port of a transceiver. A port signal analyzer monitors the signal at the input port and informs a signal switch whether the signal power exceeds a threshold value. When the signal power does not exceed the threshold value, the signal switch connects the input port (and consequently the antenna port of the transceiver) to a receive path comprising a receive signal processor, an antenna selection processor, and an antenna port. When the signal exceeds the threshold value, the signal switch connects the input port (and consequently the antenna port of the transceiver) to a transmit path comprising a transmit signal processor, the antenna selection processor, and an antenna port.

    Abstract: A unidirectional sampling mixer utilizes a stepped phase modulation to shift the frequency of an input signal. An RF input signal is supplied to an RF input switch from an RF input port. An ordered set of phase shift values to be applied to the RF input signal and a set of times each element of which correspond to a time at which a phase shift value is be applied to the RF signal are determined. For each phase shift value within the ordered set of phase shift values, a controller controls the RF input switch to select an input of a phase shifting device and controls an RF output switch to select an output of the phasing shifting device. The input of the phase shifting device and the output of the phase shifting device are selected to apply the phase shift value at its corresponding time to the RF input signal. A frequency shifted signal is supplied to an RF output port from an output of the RF output switch.

When used for transmitting data, a data stream maps a signal to different spatial points of excitation in the antenna structure, where each chosen configuration has different radiating characteristics including phase, amplitude, and polarization, which can be used to represent data symbols. A code spreading sequence is applied to switch the output of the DSAM antenna to spatial points in the antenna to spread an input signal. The code spreading sequence is applied to an antenna to de-spread a previously spread signal.     Abstract: Systems and methods for performing logical semantic sentence comparisons and sentence-based searches. Training is performed by running an NLP pipeline on unstructured text comprising sentences and creating sentence matrix representations on the unstructured text; storing the matrix representations in an indexed database; combining the stored matrix representations; running an SVD on the combined matrix; storing the SVD components in the indexed database; reiterating through the output of the NLP pipeline the sentences of the unstructured training text to form a low-dimensional matrix conversion for each sentence for storage in the database based on the calculated SVD components. Subsequent query statements are run through the same process based and converted into low-dimensional matrix representations using the SVD components from training; the low-dimensionality query matrix is compared to the stored low-dimensional matrices to determine the closest relevant documents, that are returned to the user.

    Abstract: A Direct Spatial Antenna Modulation (DSAM) antenna structure makes use of the instantaneous electromagnetic field state of a radiating antenna structure to achieve direct modulation of a transmitted signal within the antenna. In contrast to existing amplitude and phase-only based digital modulation techniques, this innovative technique utilizes an inherent spatial modulation component, mapping data spatially to different locations in the antenna structure, where each location has different transmitting and receiving properties. This spatial component of the modulation can enable, for example, a unique increase in data transmission speed in a fixed spectral bandwidth with no increase in bit error rate over current phase and amplitude only modulation techniques. Additionally, the DSAM antenna structure affords important benefits in reduced hardware complexity, reduced supply current consumption, and relaxed amplifier linearity requirements.

A simulation environment allows a network engineer to vary parameters (e.g., antenna height, tilt, and power) of a virtual model of the wireless network and observe how the changes affect coverage. Algorithms also enable hand off timing parameters for sectors in a wireless network to be optimized. One algorithm analyzes measured data regarding network coverage and regional terrain to arrive at a report containing recommended values for window size parameters (code division systems) or timing advance parameters (time division systems). Another algorithm analyzes measured data regarding network coverage to arrive at a report, containing recommended neighbor lists for each sector in the network.
