Abstract: An Access Point (105) serving a small cell (202) in a cellular communication system (100) uses the User Equipment intra-frequency Primary Scrambling Code detection mode to detect neighbors inter-frequency by switching its carrier frequency to a frequency on which it is desired to check for neighbors (for a period long enough and/or often enough for it UE to have a reasonable chance of detecting such a neighbor). Received measurements on such neighbor cells (202, 203) may be used to compile a neighbor cell list if no such list has been preconfigured in the Access Point or if network listen results have provided only a limited number of detected neighbor cells.
Abstract: Location presence information is provided to advertising services by a femto-cell management system in a femto/pico-cell environment. On registration of a user equipment with a pico-cell which has been previously identified as a designated zone, the management system sends an alert to the advertising services. A SMS controller permits the advertising services to send a welcome text message including advertising content to the user equipment. The management system can also act as a centralized GSMA one API application gateway for location presence.

Abstract: A network element for a wireless communication system that supports a plurality of access points providing communication in small cells is described. The network element comprises a signal processor arranged to: receive and process information from a plurality of access points wherein the received information identifies a macro cell visible to a respective access point; and calculate a degree of correlation of the information from the at least two access points based at least partly on the processed macro cell information provided by the respective access point.
Abstract: An enhanced circuit-switched media transmission over packet-switched, or Internet Protocol, access networks. Access legs of calls between terminal devices are monitored at a gateway positioned at the interface between packet-switched and circuit-switched networks. Access legs are identified which connect terminal devices residing in the same access network through monitoring of media data transmission. Terminal devices with identified connections are instructed to communicate directly while the gateway maintains the connection on the circuit-switched network.
