Abstract: Techniques comprise receiving results from one or more configuration checks performed on one or more elements of an information processing system, wherein the results are received from a set of one or more interfaces of the information processing system and comprise an indication of detection of a configuration issue with at least a portion of the one or more elements of the information processing system. The method generates one or more remediation actions based on at least a portion of the received results, and then causes initiation of the one or more remediation actions within the information processing system at least in part through the set of one or more interfaces of the information processing system from which the results are received to effectuate remediation of the configuration issue with the portion of the one or more elements of the information processing system.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and processor-readable storage media for efficient synchronization of a cloud enabled file system database during a snapshot restore operation are provided herein. An example computer-implemented method includes intercepting a user request to initiate a snapshot restore operation on a file system associated with a local storage system, wherein the file system comprises one or more stub files that are indicative of locations of cloud objects comprising files that were previously sent from the local storage system to a cloud storage platform; prior to the snapshot restore operation being performed, creating a current snapshot of the file system; obtaining an indication that the file system was successfully restored on the local storage system; and using the current snapshot to perform a synchronization operation, wherein the synchronization operation deletes one or more orphan cloud objects in the cloud storage platform that resulted from the snapshot restore operation.

Abstract: A deduplicated file system includes a set of microservices including front-ends and back-ends. Assignments of files are balanced across front-ends. The files are represented by segment trees including multiple segment levels. Assignments of similarity groups are balanced across back-ends. Similarity groups are associated with segments at a lower-level of the segment trees that form the files. Front-ends are responsible for operations involving an upper-level of the trees. Back-ends are responsible for operations involving the lower-level of the trees. A mapping of file assignments to front-ends and of similarity group assignments to back-ends is stored. A request to perform a file system operation is received. The mapping is consulted to identify particular front and back-ends that should be responsible for handling and processing the request.

Abstract: Snapshots may be used to implement remote replication, for example, asynchronously, between a first storage system, A1, and a second storage system, A2. A1 may take a first snapshot, SS21, of a logical storage unit, R1. After the snapshot SS21 it taken, any dependent write operations associated with SS21 may be reconciled, and differences between SS21 and the last snapshot for R1, SS11, may be determined and recorded as a difference set. One or more replication instructions for R1 that include the write operations (or data and metadata corresponding thereto) of the difference set may be sent from A1 to A2. A2 may apply the differences to R2, and then take (activate) a snapshot of R2, SS22, which is a replica of SS21. After A2 activates SS22, A2 may send an acknowledgement to A1 indicating that SS22 has been activated, and A2 may take a next snapshot of R1.

Abstract: An authentication system and authentication method for an electronic cigarette and an electronic cigarette configured to be connected within such system so that the authentication method can be applied to the electronic cigarette. The system can be divided into 3 main components, namely the electronic cigarette itself, a mobile terminal in communication with the electronic cigarette and reading a security label from the electronic cigarette, and a service terminal connected to the mobile terminal, for instance through the cloud. The system and method protects particularly from counterfeit cartridges and secures that a cartridge of the intended content is connected in the electronic cigarette. In addition, age verification can be performed.

Abstract: Different logical partitions representing parts of a distributed file system global namespace are hosted on some cluster nodes, e.g., metadata nodes. File content and shadow logical partitions corresponding to the different logical partitions are hosted on other nodes, e.g., data nodes. Each file is associated with a metadata and data node. TCP links are established between nodes. Upon opening files, a file manager server session is generated between each pair of nodes associated with the open files to track open states and is recorded in a mapping table. The mapping table identifies each open file and associated nodes. When a metadata or data node of a particular pair of nodes associated with an open file becomes unavailable, the mapping table is consulted to identify another of the metadata or data node associated with the open file. Crash recovery protocols are performed on the other of the metadata or data node.

Abstract: A storage system comprises a plurality of storage devices, and is configured to establish a production drive group comprising a first subset of the storage devices, using a first firmware-level configuration process, and to establish a stealth drive group comprising a second subset of the storage devices, using a second firmware-level configuration process, the storage devices of the stealth drive group thereby being separated at a firmware level of the storage system from the storage devices of the production drive group.
